  1. Hello Logicians, I set up a logic session rewired with sibelius 6. It's out of sync. Here's what I did: 1) From Logic, I exported a MIDI file with the global track tempo data. 2) Imported MIDI file in Sibelius 6. 3) It's recognized as a rewire session and plays back, but it's out of sync. 4) Tried to adjust synchronization in Sibelius' Play>Video and Time>Timecode and Duration window. By doing that I can change the position of Sibelius timeline playhead. By setting it to "Timecode of first bar" to 0 and "Start video in score at" 0, Logic's and Sibelius cursor match up when clicking anywhere in the Logic's or Sibelius timeline. 5) I think the MIDI files' bpm info is the same as in Logic's global tempo track. But still, it keeps playing out of sync. After playing it back a short while, Logic's and Sibelius' cursor are not in sync anymore. What am I missing? Any help is much appreciated. Thanks! mikkolaus Logic track exported as MIDI file including global track tempo info Lining up Logic and Sibelius playback cursor From Logic exported and into Sibelius imported MIDI file including global tempo track data. 2. I am not sure if it officially supported by apple, but it still run on Yosemite.
  3. Hello Logic Team, I upgraded from Mavericks to Yosemite. Reason 7 doesn't start in Rewire Mode (Slave) when Logic Pro is the host. I tried 32 and 64 bit versions (Logic and Reason). However, Logic Pro X and Reason 7 work fine on the same machine. Any idea? Is Yosemite not supporting Logic Pro and Reason 7 as a Rewire Session? I'd be very happy if someone had some advise. Thanks, mikkolaus
  4. Hi David, Thanks for asking. When I quantize the note length (note force legato) of one note that the end lines up with the start of the next note, it seems there's a 8 ticks "courtesy" distance between the notes. I imagine this is the default setting to make sure that every MIDI note gets triggered to avoid an overlapping effect.
  5. Hello, I wonder if this is possible. Cut chords from Chord Global Track to a Marker Track. Let's say, we used the chord analyzing option on region(s) with the result of having the chords displayed in the Chord Global Track. Then we select all Chords from Global Track, apply Command + X (cut and save in clipboard), then delete all chords on Chord Global Track (to avoid transposition errors) and past it SOMEHOW into the Marker Track. Using the Chord Track to Analyze MIDI Regions (LOGIC MANUAL) Keep in mind that the chords in the Chord track are events, they affect the playback transposition of MIDI events and Apple Loops. Make sure that you only use the Chord track if you really want to use it consequently; once you use it, it always affects your composition. As an example: When you analyze your project, then copy a region without copying the chord track events …; you should not use it if you only want to display the chords in your project; use the Marker track then—or the Score Editor text chord symbols. Hope to read any shared experience, mikkolaus
  6. Hello Everybody, It seems that Logic quantizes by default each note (independent from its length) 8 tics less than its mathematical correct value. Why is that? Is that purposely done to make sure that each MIDI note is played back and to avoid overlapping notes that may not played back audible? How can I change it (quickly) to dead quantize it (232 ticks = 240 ticks)? Let's say I want to prepare the MIDI for scoring in a music software. Thankful for any advise, mikkolaus
  7. Thank you very much Angelo for your insights!! Of course, I can always export MIDI and import it to Finale or Sibelius or create a duplicate MIDI track, mute the playback and edit it without focus on audio but visual display. I hoped someone would send a link with a tutorial about creating and customizing a drum (or percussion) staff.
  8. Thank you Atlas and Angelo! In order to get a quick fix, I did what Angelo suggested. That is duplicating the MIDI track and move the notes to the specific keys that give me the score display I wanted. But what I am wanted is a custom drum clef as Angelo suggested. I am not a drummer so I haven't figured that out yet. I hope that by googeling the term "custom drum clef" I find a guide.
  9. When several symbols are selected and they are not aligned, the "Horizontal Pos." and "Vertical Pos." show a * indicating that at least two selected symbols don't share the same position. When clicking in the * field and typing in a number, e.g. -70, all symbols move, but don't line up with each other. The distance between them remains the same.
  10. I just tried to align freely created symbols that doesn't work either, I guess.
  11. Awesome Eric, works great! I guess it works only for symbols that you create new. Already written symbols can't be moved?
  12. Hello Logicians, I wonder whether it is possible to change the position of the symbols "mute" and "open" in the score layout. By default, they are displayed above the note, but I'd like to have them below the note head. I didn't find anything about it in Logic's manual. Is this possible at all? Thanks! Symbols "Open" and "Mute" placed above the note head.
  13. Hello Logicians, I am trying to create a (3 line) percussion score of a MIDI track that uses the EXS24 as instrument. In the MIDI region of this MIDI track, the sounds that I am using are MIDI notes placed on C4 to F4. How can I create my own custom percussion score notation? 2 Questions: 1) What changes does it need to display the notes in the score? In this score are only rests displayed. I assume that my MIDI notes are "out of range" and I need to transpose the score layout for this track. 2) Assuming question 1 is solved and the notes show up, how can I have the make display the notes on the three lines? There a four different MIDI notes (instrument: pandeiro - slap, bass, jingles) that I want to score on a three line drum staff. The jingles are two different MIDI notes, "left and right hits" and are supposed to be display on the same line drum line. Thanks for any feedback!
