  1. Done! I am running Logic 9.1.8 So I did a little test today. I dug up my old Powerbook G4 15" PPC (1.1), running OSX Tiger 10.4.11. Connected my Firebox to it, opened Audacity, recorded a short guitar riff, and... same exact error! So it has to be something with the Firebox. As for what, I still have no idea.
  2. Yeah, Firebox Control Panel and Mixer both seem to be working fine. I use the +12db gain in Control Panel (which I have always used). It's just strange to me that the level is extremely low while recording, but then the actual recorded audio sounds fine when played back. It does the same thing when I record in both Logic and Audacity, so I'm thinking maybe it is a global setting on my MBPro? Like I said, I'm stumped
  3. Well the Firebox is still recording, in that the signal makes it to Logic Pro, it's just very low when monitoring/recording. But once I have recorded it, and play it back, it plays back at a nice loud volume. This makes no sense to me! Do you have any idea what would cause this error? I have also tried it with the Firebox + Audacity, and produces the same thing. Thanks for your help
  4. So I just got a new Macbook Pro running Mavericks. Tried to hook up my old Presonus Firebox to it, but the new MBPro is Firewire 800 only (small slot) and my Firebox has the 400 (big slot) for output. So I bought this Firewire 400 to 800 adapter: http://store.apple.com/ca/product/HA833ZM/A/belkin-firewire-800400-9-pin6-pin-cable-2-m66-ft Here is the current problem. I connect a mic or instrument to the Firebox and just plug my headphones into the Firebox, it sounds fine. But if I plug the Firebox into my MBPro using the adapter and try to record in Logic, I get a very low level through the headphones while recording/auditioning, but the level looks good on the meters. If I playback the recording through the headphones, the new track sounds low, but the other tracks (samples etc) sound ok. If I play it back through my normal MBPro headphone output, all tracks sound fine, including the new one. I'm going crazy trying to figure this out. I can record a track, and it produces a recording of good volume, but the volume is very low while recording/auditioning?! It can't be the cable right? Because it produces a quality recording. I am thinking it must be some setting on the Mixer page I am forgetting, during the recording/auditioning process, but can't figure out what. Help!
  5. Yes, This is apparently a PPC problem, since the new macbook Pro's do not support it. I ended up buying a used Powerbook G4 (aluminum) running Tiger 10.4.11. I'll have to use that one for all of my old session files. Thanks for your help!
  6. Hi, Didn't work, I get the same message, "File couldn't be opened." And if I try to open it from within Logic (i.e. File > Open), the older session files are greyed out, can't select them.
  7. Hi there! So I recently got a new MacBook Pro, running Mavericks OS 10.9. This version won't run Logic 8 since it's a PPC application. I installed Logic 9.1.7 and it works, but now when I try to open my old session files (that were created in Logic 8), it gives the error "The file couldn't be opened." It doesn't give any more information. Is there something I'm doing wrong? Thanks!
