  1. Based on page 50 of the control surface support manual, it looks like I'm not going to be able to get feedback for the Beatstep. Would need Arturia to write a driver. =\ Oh well.
  2. I did not create separate modes. I'm not really sure how those work ... maybe I better read the documentation? To make the banks, I just two controls for "Fader Bank for Current View" as follows: Class: Control Surface Group Parameter: Fader Bank for Current View Bank Type: By One Then I set one of them to multiply by -1, learned a knob for them .. and one direction moves them positively and the other negatively. It gave me 8 banks by default. So.. yeah. I skipped modes completely. Any suggestions on what I should do to get past that hurdle? Thanks for all the help btw. I really appreciate it. Learning a lot!
  3. The lights do come on when the pad is in toggle mode (or held down in gate mode). I'm just stuck on what happens when the lights are on and then I switch fader banks. The lights don't seem to change as the fader bank changes (because there is no feedback?) so as soon as I change banks, the lights no longer accurately represent what is muted/soloed and what isn't. Here's how I have MCC set up for pad one:
  4. I've set up two configs as you described for an off/on state. I'm not really seeing how that buys me anything beyond how it was already working though. The feedback option is still greyed out ... and when I switch fader banks, the lights don't update accordingly. The main goal I had of getting the lights to work properly was to be able to scroll the fader group and have the lights on my Beatstep update accordingly. For example, if I mute track 3 but the first track of the bank group is one, as I scroll the group to the right one at a time, the light moves from pad 3, to 2, to 1, etc. Guessing this isn't possible without a driver?
  5. Could you explain how you achieved that? On my pads in my control setup, the feedback section is grey'd out.
  6. Really close to having my Beatstep working the way I want. Is there any way I could send toggle info from Logic back to the beatstep? To control the lights on each pad?
  7. I've a couple questions regarding configuring an "unsupported" midi controller. I'll explain by way of example. I've a Panorama P6. The faders map to the first 8 tracks in my project. The Track +/- buttons move that range of tracks up/down. That track group/range is indicated in Logic by colored bars on the currently-controlled tracks. My questions are this: - what is that group of controlled (indicated by the colored bars) tracks called with respect to control surface setup? - is it possible to create these sorts of groups on generic controllers? The reason I ask is because I went ahead with purchasing an Arturia Beatstep. In control surface mode, it works great for handling the smart controls. However, I'd like to use the other buttons for solo/mute on 8 tracks and use the stop/play (or maybe the large encoder) to switch the group of tracks I'm controlling. Is this possible without special drivers? Thanks for the info! EDIT: It looks like I'm looking for a way to create and manipulate user fader banks.
  8. Thanks again. Now I know what to look for in the future. Pretty straightforward!
  9. Thanks for the help! A reinstall did the trick. How were you able to determine, based on the log, that it was Metrum's fault..?
  10. Recently, LPX has started crashing on quit. It seems to always complain about one of two plugins... Z3TA+ 2 or VPS Metrum. The strange thing is.. I just closed a project that had only one track. The sole plugin inserted in to that track was Z3TA. The only other plugin in the session was cerberus audio's ice9 on master. While it was quitting, it crashed and complained about Metrum, which wasn't even in the project. Here's the crash log: http://hastebin.com/ocajeyubep Can anyone tell from that what the problem is? Any suggestions? Any pointers on deciphering the crash log? Thanks for the help!
  11. Actually that's the one other controller I've got. The knobs aren't too bad, but I wish I could just remove the pads completely. =] That's why I was thinking about maybe the beatstep... 16 knobs and a possibly useful step sequencer? I dunno. Thanks, John! I'll have to check that one out. I was wondering how easy it was to remap the various controls on that sucker. I dunno how much I'd use the others, but the knobs (I assume by default they're Pan knobs?) could do the trick. Keep `em comin', guys!
  12. Oddly enough, I have a Panorama P6 at home! It is fantastic. =] However, I'm looking for something small and portable.. for use specifically with Logic's Smart Controls. Something I can throw in my laptop bag to take with me to the coffee shop. Something that can easily map at least 8 knobs. Hope that helps with the suggestions!
  13. Just thought I'd try bumping. No thoughts or opinions..?
  14. I'm in the market for a MIDI Controller for use specifically with Logic's awesome smart controls. Can anyone suggest a good, compact controller that would work well for this? I was thinking maybe the Arturia Beatstep, considering it has just the right number of knobs. Anyone tried it with smart controls? Any other suggestions? Let me know what you guys think!
  15. Jordi, Finally had a chance to try your suggestion. This is exactly what I was looking for! Thank you for pointing it out. It is a small nuisance having to select a parameter first, but overall it makes working with one control a breeze compared to remapping it over and over. Thanks again! This'll be a big time-saver for me. -n
