  1. Thanks - that's exactly what I wanted. I can now transpose stacks. I see that the sound transposes when it's included in the stack but not if you select it alone. Perfect!
  2. OK - I found the Transposer in MIDI FX. It doesn't work for stacks though.
  3. My Roland E36 has a simple transpose button. When I drop 12 semitones, Logic and other software like Mainstage, GarageBand, etc recognise the change. My Yamaha SY85 has the same functionality, buried somewhere in a digital LCD screen. The internal sound can be transposed but not the MIDI data, ie transposition of Software Instruments. Does Logic have a feature that allows live transposition? All the info I've found online is about transposing tracks, either audio or MIDI. The Yamaha only has 61 keys, so I need to drop the whole thing down an octave. Any help appreciated. Ideally I want to create an instrument and then transpose it and save it.
  4. It has. Thanks very much. I was quietly going insane. I'm using an iControl to enable MIDI to USB. It works OK with my MBP. I also see that every time I connect the iControl it makes a new instance (icon). How can the iControl work if I bypass control surfaces?
  5. I am almost certain Logic is corrupted. I have two keys intermittently failing to trigger MIDI, but it happens on different keyboards (same keys). When I use my MacBook Pro, no problem. Any advice? Do I just reinstall, or should I try removing preference files in the Library first? Hmm, no preference files? I'm going ahead with reinstall. My Roland seems to be responding OK now but the Yamaha SY85 only triggers 100% on the MacBook Pro. What else could be causing the problem on the Mac Mini? A corrupt MIDI driver inside OS X? I've tried starting a new project, in case a project was corrupted.
  6. Ok. I'll do that tomorrow. I have a workaround now where I randomly click the 'R' and 'I' buttons on other channels then return to the one I want. That seems to break the link.
  7. Thanks - I'll post that same screenshot as a test. Do you guys enable tampermonkey or similar to allow widescreen mode for the forum layout? I definitely should get more RAM.
  8. I thought that may have been the case. I didn't catch the track status, because of the weird resizing thing I've been having in this forum, but I encountered the same problem today. Maybe this tinypic type is better - "Direct Link for Layouts" http://i58.tinypic.com/2n18j6a.png OK - try this: http://i58.tinypic.com/2n18j6a.png See the problem here? I lose some of the image when I use the /img code. Anyway, you can see the recording is on the wrong track. Also notice the editor track is set to the Electric Piano instrument I was using. Shouldn't it follow my track selection?
  9. This is better in a new thread. You can see an audio track is recording at the same time as the drum part I'm playing in. Obviously, this is not what I want. I tried everything I could think of, but as I'm still fairly new to LPX, it's feels like a waste of time. I don't even know what I'm looking for. I'm hoping someone will point out a simple solution or reason, as they did with my first problem. http://i62.tinypic.com/npjihg.jpg
  10. OK. I did that. Should Is set it to Same level or Content? I want the simplest possible option (think GarageBand). Now I created a drum track, so I can add some percussion, but for some reason I am getting the vocal part in the vocal track above it getting over-recorded (I tried moving it below the other drum track - no difference there). http://i62.tinypic.com/npjihg.png
  11. Try again. http://i58.tinypic.com/2i7ntcn.jpg Ok - why does it cut off part of an almost square image? How do I get it to resize to fit?
  12. Ok, now I have a specific empty track showing all the time, even after turning off links altogether. I'm assuming I need a host for a screenshot? http://i57.tinypic.com/o8x9no.png Sorry, I could resize this better, but the last one cut off all the right hand side of my image, so I re-centred it.
  13. Thanks - that looks like it. I'm not an expert with Logic, having graduated from GarageBand a few months ago. More power and flexibility = more confusion, I guess. Cheers. Now, about channel strips...
  14. I'm new - sorry if this was posted twice. I couldn't find my first post. I don't know how to see my history. I sometimes duplicate a track, to save me looking the same instrument, or recreating effects , etc. I am finding that the track in the editor will not change, when I select a different track. I even deleted a track and it's still showing in the editor. I've tried closing and restarting Logic, with no luck. I have searched, but nobody seems to have the same problem. I am not sure that it's caused by my duplicating tracks, but that seems, umm, logic -al Any advice, apart from reinstalling?
