  1. I'm trying to slow down an audio file - using the flex pitch tool so as not to change the pitch - many thousands of times. I know this would produce so many artifacts and so much distortion that the file would be completely and utterly unrecognizable (this is part of the point ). The problem is there is a limit to the tempo range in a logic project - 5bpm to 990 bpm - which doesn't accomplish what I'm trying to do. I tried to get around this by taking the audio file, slowing it down, bouncing it out as a wav file and then putting it back in when the project was at a faster tempo so that I would have more "room" to slow it down again, but this did not work. It seems the audio file still has the tempo marker from flex pitch in it so it adjusts back to the tempo of the track. When I put the exported audio file back into logic, it asks if I want to import the tempo information embeded in the track and I've tried clicking both yes and no, with the same result each time. Can anyone explain why this work around does not work and (hopefully) give me one that will work? Thanks to everyone that replies!
  2. This is probably a stupid question, but all of the info I've come across has said to select track and click on "show master track". When I bring down the track menu however, there is no "show master track" option. I'm using Logic Pro X version 10.0.7. Thanks for your help!
  3. So there is no way I could take, say, one MIDI note on a track and tune it down 50 cents the same way I can with flex pitch and an audio track?
  4. I'm trying to work with logic to make some microtonal music and I can't seem to find an easy way to work with MIDI. I'm wondering if there is any easy way to fine-tune specific MIDI notes within one cent accuracy. I know you can easily adjust the tuning of most logic instruments, but that would mean I would need to use automation to make microtonal melodies, which is somewhat tedious. Furthermore, this doesn't solve the problem of making microtonal harmonies with one instrument, as even when an instrument is fine-tuned, it is still confined to the 12 note ET octave at any one time. In order to make microtonal harmonies, I would have to make duplicate instruments on a separate track. This gets a bit absurd if I'm trying to write in 72 note ET, as each "instrument" would need 6 duplicates(!). Is there an easier way to do this? I would be pretty surprised if making microtonal music from audio via flex pitch was actually easier than MIDI.
  5. I have checked with the activity monitor and logic rarely goes over 20 percent of my CPU. I use a mac OSX 10.8.5 with 4GB of RAM. When I got the computer a couple of years ago, I didn't expect to be running anything more complicated than an internet browser - I probably would have gotten more RAM otherwise. It actually suddenly started working again, with some minor issues that seem similar to what a lot of other people have been talking about. Not really sure what happened, but thanks anyway!
  6. I recently downloaded Logic Pro X. I'm new to Logic in general, so it is possible that I'm just unbelievably incompetent, but it seems like I can't even get it to do the most basic of things. When I press play to play a recorded track, it might play the audio, but NOTHING will happen in the GUI. This same issue comes up when I'm recording. It seemed that when I first started using the program, the GUI would actually usually respond when I pressed play or record, but now I'm kind of "in the dark". In addition, it's very common for me to have to deal with errors coming up, telling me that the midi data could not be processed in time, etc. When I change software instruments on a track, it will often be several minutes (or seemingly never) until the sound itself changes. Doing something like changing the tempo of a piece or simply navigating through it will take over a minute for the computer to respond to. A whole slew of problems has made this program almost impossible to work with to do even very simple tasks (like recording two midi tracks with a click). Have other people had these problems? Is this common? Am I doing something wrong? Any help is appreciated! I'm using logic 10.0.7 on a macbook pro OSX version 10.8.5
  7. Hi everyone! I'm sure this is probably a stupid question and I'm missing something very obvious, but I recently purchased Logic Pro X for my macbook pro using my Apple ID in the app store. When I look in the app store, Logic Pro X is labelled "installed" and when I look at my bank account, there is a 210 dollar charge for purchasing the program. When I look on my computer though, I cannot find the program anywhere. I've looked in applications and through all of my files with searches and just scrolling through them with the finder. Am I missing something? Shouldn't I be able to find it in my applications if it has been installed in my computer? Thanks!
