  1. Mea Culpa, (my bad) Automation found! All is well. Thank you.
  2. I'd welcome thoughts on this: My Midi Expression resets to zero volume when transport stop is pressed. This happens when using Spitfire Albion strings in Kontakt 5. There's no automation that I can see.
  3. For too long I've recorded multiple song ideas on the same project, a mix of improvised audio and midi, and, disregarding the project BPM, it is ALL free of any tempo. The audio tracks have been edited, shifted etc. I always planned to 'sort them out' and lock to grid tempo, quantize, add grooves, delays etc. Now I discover it is far from simple. Any muso friendly guide reference to detecting tempo etc would be welcome! Starting over is a mountain of work as I have refined and arranged etc.
  4. I recorded some Audio in Surround, I wish to make it Stereo. All attempts so far have failed. I have read about 'Down Mixer' but I don't see this anywhere. Where is it and can it provide the solution?
  5. There is a project tempo, but I havent referred to it at all. so I am concerned not to loose the feel when I make changes. Midi has flexiblitiy as regards tempo but the audio has its own real tempo and that needs to be established, and then locked, I imagine. Maybe it would be useful to separate the tracks into sections of tempo? I will work on Beatmap. Thanks for the reply.
  6. I have a difficult way of working. On the loose side of Intuitive! Many ideas developed in a single project, with random and improvised tempo. What is the best way to work with all these time changes, to create one work? I don't want to separate them into individual projects because I want to keep working on it as a whole, and this would be hard to do if they are separate projects. Basically I want the best advice on creating a single project with several regions set at different tempo. They consist of audio and midi, unquantified. Help!
  7. Found it. A space is needed before the /Volumes! Thanks everyone.
  8. Here's the relevant bits of Terminal showing the illegal option response: ln -s/Volumes/My\ Passport\ Studio/Logic/EXS\ Factory\ Samples /Library/Application\ Support/Logic ln: illegal option -- / usage: ln [-Ffhinsv] source_file [target_file] ln [-Ffhinsv] source_file ... target_dir link source_file target_file
  9. Could there be links made that I'm not aware of, made during my attempts at it? Is there a way to see what exists and to remove? (ln s In -s 1n -s ? Is that an L or an uppercase i? I think I used an L. ) And if a symbolic link is 'better' than an Alias, why does't Apple offer making the link as an alternative choice to the 'Make an Alias' in the Folder options?
  10. Yes it does, but the end result is "Invalid target path, already exists"
  11. Symlinker doesn't define what's a target and what's a source. Excuse my ignorance one more time please, but which is which?
  12. It was EXS24 and Ultrabeat Samples. I just dragged them as you suggested, no changes made, so I don't know why the slash was misread. (I cant paste as I'm on laptop currently). The path names should have been fine. The external files are in one I caled Logic Samples, and the HD ones are in Application Support/Logic. I will try SymLinker.
  13. So I then return the folders to as they were, and then when I start Logic Pro X I get an new installation message.. "Am I new to Logic etc " or Have I used it before". This will happen each time I open Logic . It takes a few minutes to 'install'. It seems that LPX thinks it is incomplete now.
  14. When I follow these instructions exactly, I get this in terminal when i finally press Enter: ln: illegal option -- / usage: ln [-Ffhinsv] source_file [target_file] ln [-Ffhinsv] source_file ... target_dir link source_file target_file The 'illegal option' is what worries me.
  15. Thanks, I wil try again. Is that a space between the ln and the -s? if I fail, these applications, are they ok for El Capitan?
