  1. That seems to have sorted it thanks Eric
  2. I've noticed that anytime I record audio into logic, the resulting audio is slightly ahead of the rest of the project. Every time I record a track, I have to manually drag the region back so that the track plays in time with the rest of the song. I'm taking milliseconds but enough to notice that the part is rushing ahead of the song. I've checked the recording delay in preferences but that is at 0 as I've never changed it since I started using logic it's definitely not my playing! Is it something to do with the vst plug-ins and instruments I have running? I have quite a few on most of the recent projects I am working on as I am writing a film score and there are quite a lot of orchestral libraries running. But I thought latency only affected monitoring and not the actual audio being recorded. Plus, it's weird to me that the audio is recorded ahead of time rather than lagging behind like latency does. Has anyone else had this issue? Thanks
  3. Brilliant! You've helped make all my arrange windows a lot less insane to look at. Thanks for the advice
  4. I recently learned how to assign keys to view each program change in the piano roll window. Right now I have the letters V, E and S assigned to view volume, expression and sustain respectively. I basically assigned the keys to quickly check the levels of each parameter to save some time. But I have noticed that if I am in the arrange window with a midi region highlighted then press one of the 3 assigned keys the program change info appears within the region itself (very similar to how track automation looks with the yellow lines and nodes). This is helpful to a degree but I don't know how to make it disappear again which means my arrange window is gradually turning into a big mess of program change info. Does anyone know how to make this info disappear from midi regions in the arrange window. Thanks in advance for any help Simon
  5. Thanks Razzzzz! That has solved the issue of muting individual midi tracks. Unfortunately all tracks are still affected when I do anything else to one of them such as change the fader volume or add any insert fx. I've just read a few articles and watched some videos about setting up aux inputs in the mixer and creating extra aux outputs in kontakt which will give me control over volume etc of each instrument. However this seems quite a long winded approach just to have control over each individual channel strip. That would mean having an extra 16 aux channels if I had 16 instruments running in a single kontakt patch. Then if I wanted to introduce another kontakt patch I'd have to add another load of aux channels. Plus, this wouldn't solve the issue if I wanted to use more than one instrument in sample tank as there doesn't seem to be an option of routing instruments to other outputs with sample tank. It just has a stereo output for some reason. It seemed a lot easier in cubase to just create a new midi track, assign it to a software instrument and have total control over it's parameters within the channel strip. I love so many features in logic but this is a major obstacle and the only thing stopping me from progressing. Is there any more I can do?
  6. I'm using Logic Pro 9 and I'm having issues with controlling the different channels that are assigned to the same software instrument. For example, in my current session I have a multi-timbral Kontakt patch containing 7 instruments that have a channel strip assigned to each instrument in the arrange window. Each channel has a different midi channel selected from 1-7. They all play their relevant sounds when the session is playing back but when I try to manipulate one of the channels it also changes every other channel that is assigned to kontakt. For example, if I mute one channel in the arrange window, every other channel assigned to kontakt is muted. Same goes for when I change the fader volume on one channel as if they are all linked together to work simultaneously. How do I control each channel separately so that I can mix the session as I want. Also, when I view the mixer, it doesn't display all 7 kontakt channels but only a single 'instrument' channel. How do I view every single channel strip that is in the arrange window so that I can mix them to my liking? I have been using cubase for years but have decided to make the leap to logic so I'm still finding my feet at the moment. Any advice would be a big help Thanks
