  1. Great killer funk stuff man, head is still bobbin´! Especially liked the sexdwarf falsetto that kicks in at about 1:40... Keep up the good work!
  2. Of course I do! So true (and sad), today´s folks take all these great features and extras for granted. It´s a shame. If they were to assemble all those features within other DAWs they´d freak out to see that this would be about ten times the price of Logic. IMO Logic is the best bang for buck DAW around. BTW: I have heard very good comments about your books´ German translations, gotta check those out if I should move on to X.
  3. I would definitely recommend trying out both mid/side processing (which is already included in Alloy/Ozone - I can also recommend the Voxengo stuff, especially when for free ) and Izotope´s multiband when it comes to treating stereo mixes. The latter I have found to be particularly useful to really center the bass range by applying negative amounts of widening (yep, pull that slider all the way down and listen what happens). Since many bass sounds (esp. in the EDM/dance domain) have some sort of modulation going on, that´s useful for giving an extra oomph - and of course when it comes to cutting your stuff on vinyl (which you should ALWAYS leave to a professional mastering engineer by the way.) Speaking of single/isolated signals S1 can be handy, although you can, as has been said before, really quickly mess up your phase alignments, so checking in mono is a MUST for club oriented music. You´ll hardly find a club having a true stereo PA. And last but not least: give Logic´s Direction Mixer a chance. It has a nice little "Spread" slider that can work wonders sometimes...
  4. Niiice!! Ah man, those days... I started on 3.x (of course PC - we all knew that Apple´s G series with its then famous "velocity engine" sounded superior, but we just couldn't afford those beasts ), and some years after that made a leap directly to the 5.x series. I still remember that I was completely blown away by this new mighty feature called automation...dang! No more set and forget Not to mention all those new little plugs (how the hell does this multiprocessor work? ), synths - and multiple undo! Hahaha, I sound like a grandpa telling tales from WWII....
  5. Hey pal, check out Indaba music. These guys are working quite closely with major labes/artists, and not-so-major-but-musically-interesting artists. There you´ll find anything from Sarah Vaughn´s Jazz Contest to Linkin Park. Beatport also offers remix comps on a regular basis. Cheers
  6. Hey pal, I can recommend reading the following books: Mixing Secrets for the Small Studio - Mike Senior Mixing with your mind - Michael Paul Stavrou The Mixing Engineer´s Handbook - Bobby Owsinski Sound Reinforcement Handbook - Yamaha Mixing Audio: Concepts, Practices and Tools - Roey Izhaki Although these are not really specific to sound design, your sound will benefit from applying what you´ll find there. Cheers!
  7. Hey David, you´re welcome and yeah, feels good to be here! Ha, long time lurker - true that In my case that also applies to Logic itself, since I started using our beloved program back in the emagic days (1997 or so...), so I guess I´m not really a pro, but kind of a veteran. Cheers!
  8. Thanks Eric, I will for sure!
  9. Hey LPH, I´ve been a keen reader of LPH for a decent time now, and I thought it might be time to chime in and to officially join the party by signing up. Over time I have found some incredibly useful advice on this site, so let me start by saying a huge "Thank you" to all of you. This forum is spot on and I´m looking forward to interacting with all of you from now on! Best, Emre
