  1. Thank you @David Nahmani !!! Appreciate the info, now I can trash one set of files
  2. @des99 thanks-that'd be great! I'll dig out the serials and PM you, much appreciated!
  3. Ah yes...correct, I remember....and "duh", I didn't keep the Installers......or can't find them on my forest of drives .....
  4. Ah right, Virtual Machine. Good idea. I tried reinstalling Redmatica apps on my old Mac Book but of course the authorisation won't work -at least I can't get it to. Sampler seems ok for the occasional job. but the Batch Instrument function in Keymap is just amazing when you have folders & folders of samples & loops....!! I just love jamming with a bunch of them in realtime, it' so much better than dragging them from Finder to the Timeline one by one
  5. The Redmatica apps were (are) fantastic. What OS are you on, des99? KeyMap Pro stopped working when I moved to 10.13
  6. I have a collection of samples in both formats, kind of unnecessary and taking up drive space so I'm thinking of trashing one or the other format and just keeping one. I want to make Sampler Instruments with all of them though, so I was wondering if there is any reason to prefer the .wav or .aiff format for that? And do Logic's various functions (which I don't know well) , such as creating Apple Loop formats, Flex Time, etc, work better with one or the other format? Thank you oh wise ones RR
  7. When I open an older song with Sampler Instruments whose samples are no longer present on my system, Logic comes up with an error message that samples are missing, which is ok- I simply click on the " ignore" button....but then Logic still starts looking for samples on my system... and if there's one called E1.wav (!!!) which there often is, I get repeated windows offering me to select a sample...and this goes on and on and on....especially if the Instrument is a piano with heaven knows how many samples in it!! Usually this process is so long winded that I abandon opening the older project! Isn't there a way to prevent Logic doing this, somehow? Thanks all RR
  8. Audio interfaces like dedicated ports, no doubt. yes, it makes sense @Triplets- but what threw me was that Playback via the Interface was working fine.......(duh!)
  9. This WAS baffling me completely. I'm posting in case anyone has the same problem, because I spent 3 days troubleshooting before I found the simple issue. I'm using a valve mic (WarmAudio Wa-251) plugged into my BigKnobStudio to record in my DAW (Logic Pro X) on an iMac. This has all worked fine previously. Now, I hear the signal from the mic via speakers /phones connected to the BigKnobStudio, and its own meters show a healthy input; but the record armed track in Logic shows zero level, zilch. I switched to the iMac's internal mic in Logic's Audio Preferences, and then I see plenty of level arriving at the armed track. I also tried connecting a simple USB mic-again, signal coming into Logic. So I believe the fault is not with my DAW (also I haven't changed any Logic Audio Settings since last recording, anyway). I also checked using Garage Band and got no signal coming in there either. At first I thought my BigKnobStudio might be faulty, but I have a second unit in my other studio, and when I connected it the problem is exactly the same. So: I FINALLY found - it was the USB connection! I had the Interface plugged into a USB Hub. Connected it directly to the iMac USB sockets and presto, life is good and there is signal in Logic. So just a reminder: checking all cables includes not just audio connections, but ALL connections.
  10. @ Valli Software, very helpful-thank you !!! ...and Tassmann is a great synth...one I'd forgotten! Albino 3, wow, that is very cool too, actually like it better than much of the current Rob Papen synths. Ian Boddy did some nice banks for it. RR
  11. @Ploki, thx, appreciate the suggestion- I actually checked out Tone2 but TBH the synths are too expensive for something I might just use occasionally. Vanguard is a really cool synth and I have some great presets from Frank Genus (Pro Sounds) which just *work* -one bass sound in particular which is just great for producing TV music. I could sample them though....*when* I go to 10.15 and get the latest Logic version hahaha!!!!
  12. @FisherKing, that's a good practice and I bounce a lot of parts too....However I've collected some great presets for various synths over the years and have no fun whatsoever trying to recreate any of them using another synth.... ! a lot of it is emotional attachment I have to admit.....
  13. https://apps.apple.com/us/app/audiocortex/id1478349000?mt=12 Has anyone tried this? It's at an intro price of $9.99 and comes from the excellent Iced Audio, makers of Audio Finder. Seems a great idea if it works!! RR
  14. @Ploki thanks for the tip. I'm very fond of all the LinPlug instruments, and also refx's Vanguard. They're in quite a few of my older projects, and they will never be 64bit- not updated for years.
  15. Hi! I can see I'll have to go with Catalina sooner or later, but I have a bunch of instruments I'd like to still be able to use occasionally if neccessary, for instance, when opening older projects. I can always keep an older system, say, 10.12/10.13 on an external drive; but is anyone using some kind of virtual environment which enables using 32-bit instruments via some additional program or host? Thanks RR
