  1. Theme Thematic Development Thematic Progression Thematic Transformation Themes. Listen to music for themes. Read Poetry for themes. Watch a movie for its theme(s). Look at some dancers and the themes in the choereography. A good, well told joke. Last time you read a novel I'm guessing you naturally understood the story's theme and development. I am also guessing your grammar book was almost irrelevant to your involvement with the novel's goings on.... though the characters may have had very unique dialects. Trance ---- > musical "dialect". (kind of) Noodle around 'til you feel like you are saying something. Then bring it. Here's one... enjoy
  2. OK, so, ... You guys realize that the gods of mischief and possibly the "greeble people" are taking notes for future reference.... right? Finding out what irritates you and then using it is their forte! And now you've posted it online ........ wazzup with that?
  3. Not really advice, more of a suggestion to check out before you make a final decision. https://www.weareroli.com/ This is also a controller, so it will work with software instruments. (I got that from one of the Youtube vids). They are doing a limited first production run, (presumably for feedback) so availability might be an issue. But this Seaboard Grand is cool.
  4. If she ever hits me I will sing her a song and then....... hit her back! Then I'll give her my hush-puppy look and ask her to sing me somethin'.
  5. Just coming off of a Thanksgiving long weekend here. What a great tune and vid to start the week off! It is kind of a mystery where he stuffs all that talent in such a thin frame. Must have big pockets.
  6. Thanx for posting David. Enjoyed that. (and thanx iamjasonalexander wherever you might be... )
  7. From the inner workings of Logic Pro to the known ambit of the universe, to "hoovering" that cosmic(?) dust outside the universe, this thread is "fairly" broad in scope.... Given that I might one day need to present myself to a being on a life-bearing exoplanet (or from a life bearing exoplanet)... I think Clooney nailed it. Dapper Dan is the way to go. I am sure FOP is a fine product and all... I just wanna look my best in a first contact situation.
  8. hmmm, A ghost remotely controlling a Japanese Robot? My dad acquired a player piano and had it restored when we were kids. It was the only way I could play a Liszt Hungarian Rhapsody without a mistake. And a total aerobic workout.
  9. With me it isn't so much about efficiency. I feel like I have had a good session if I was satisfied artistically, or I was productive, or I learned something. Because I know that three years from now I will look back on a lot of growth, if I simply trust the work now. I trust rhythm. I can achieve it by performing (a form of programming) or by programming (a form of performance). ....... gee, I really hope I start a flame war with that. Drummers can do stuff that I can't with my computer. I can do stuff that a drummer can't do. They invested thousands of dollars in skins, cymbals, and microphones. I got more monitors, and computer stuff. We both need to practice. We both need to understand how to think and express in rhythmic phrases, Counting, tapping the foot, and clapping, still work. We will both produce something artistic. Not better, not worse, just different. A basic beat provides an easy foundation to work up a lot of music to. It is easy to place in the mix to help intuit a nice balance. With the computer, you can always come back a year from now when your chops are more developed. I love that option. If you have midi files, you can edit with abandon. Maybe it's the bare feet, but I think it is really that she plays along, got herself in the game, with world class artists.
  10. Happily (for me at least), I hope the trolls are being overshadowed by devs coming out from behind their Non Disclosure Agreements and touching base with the army of musicians who use Logic. Logicisdoomed links within this post to an article..... viewtopic.php?f=4&t=97752 Joe Gore, the Author of said article writes ... "Also, a disclaimer: I’m a longtime Logic developer" A fine article. We look forward to Logic's continued development and growth. (mumbling,...... three is years is too long to wait ..... )
  11. H-m-m-m, I was thinking that perhaps they should file for "Logic X Chromosome". Then they could own the trademark to ... everybody.
  12. from the article....... 4. Does smelling granny relieve depressive mood? My conspiracy theory is that "they" are studying the inner voice so that they can figure out a way to monitor it .... thus gaining an insight into what people "are thinking". Well, here's a hint............ She's naked. (imaginary goddess) Inner voice singing, "oh yaaaaah".
  13. http://www.scienceomega.com/article/1242/the-brain-mechanism-behind-your-inner-voice Ah yes, the golden voice for those of us who may be legends in our own minds....
  14. Old git to old geezer.... "I think we may have failed this generation", "What makes you say that?" "It takes 'em all night just to get lucky", "maybe tell 'em about the hippy goddess, Rose. That might inspire some condom sales" "might as well, they're gonna be here all night"...... http://www.nme.com/news/daft-punk/71350
