  1. OH, A huge feature I use constantly is track stacks. That would be very important for my workflow.
  2. To answer my own question - some benefits I see (mostly from working with iPad remote) is automating mixes with the mixer window. Being able to multitouch multiple things at once would be huge. Like adjusting a volume fader while adjusting an eq band. Zooming would be much cleaner too, being able to pinch right on the screen seems quicker in GarageBand on iOS then zooming in logic for me.
  3. oh yeah, I've tried a few times. the big features missing for me is better control of plugins, more logic plugins, more plugin slots per track, busses with linking for side-chaining and stuff, as well as flex pitch/flex time. It's great for tracking, but still missing too much for a full mix. If we get an iPad os version of logic, I can see 3rd party plugins starting to work on support for iOS. They way the menus look in 10.6 seem to be more touch screen friendly, so maybe they are planning on it.
  4. Now that logic is optimized for ARM, what do you think of getting an ipad version? What features would be most important and which do you see being an issue using a touch screen? Alternatively what benefits do you see on a touch screen?
  5. Without knowing how you route things, the quickest thing I can think of is to create auxes where the output of the aux is something other than the main out. So for example, aux 1-10 is always reserved for reverb (for me anyways) so we'll start with aux 11. If you need 3 mixes, create aux 11, aux 12 and aux 13 and put sends to them on all the tracks. On aux 11, set output to 3-4, on aux 12 output to 4-5 and so on (or however you have your motu running to the behringer). that way you can just adjust the send on each track to the aux to adjust how much of each track makes it to each "headphone mix".
  6. I actually only use it to close whatever is open down there by double tapping the X key. Haha! Actually, I do use it to grab groups of channel strips to enable automation modes.
  7. It's been a while, but I believe soundflower is what you are looking for. There might be a better solution that someone can chime in with, but that's what I've used in the (distant) past.
  8. true, I didn't think of that. I guess I should get my faderport setup with logic x! I need to get more comfortable with the transport on there anyways.
  9. Ill give it a shot! I should send some feedback. A special set of shortcuts like play/pause, paste current smpte time, add marker to timeline and record would be amazing. A different situation this would be useful is when im writing lyrics for a song in the note pad. I discovered opt+tab moves area focus then all shortcuts work. But a faster way would be nice
  10. Im trying to find the fastest way to use the note pad in logic x to spot sounds for film, but while im in that area all keyboard shortcuts are non functional because they are just typing in the notepad. Is there any way via keyboard that I can play and pause? Id love a way to also copy and paste the smpte without using my mouse to double click the transport first, then click back in. thanks for any help.
  11. Im thinking if anything, it could be done within the environment.
  12. I just scroll up or down over any fader or knob, momentum even works. very smooth indeed...
  13. I'm looking for the same thing too. I will update if I find a solution. Im at my day job now so it'll be a while before I can get back to Logic. I hope someone can help us out!
  14. first of all, thanks everyone for your input! I narrowed it down to focusrite and presonus, and I ended up with the focusrite scarlett 2i2. Ive been testing it out for about an hour now and i can say the pre's are miles better than the motu and considerably better than the apogee one. the outputs sound a little cleaner than both at high gain. for the price i couldnt pass it up for $150. So far my only issue is no software control of the volume (via the keyboard) but other than that I am very happy with my purchase so far!
  15. thanks for the input, Its looking like either presonus or focusrite, I might go with the focusrite because its exactly what i need (and the same price I was about to spend to get the motu repaired).
