  1. Everything ideally - all my own preferences, channel strips 'etc' presets… without wiping out what I have on the target (ventura) mac hopefully. I started creating new Track I/O labels in Bitwig in the meantime… and also in Audio MIDI Setup — not clear if /where Logic keeps that saved? I'm very keen on MERGE copying but not sure if/where/how that works in Ventura … the big difference with the laptop (silicon) is I swap between the big Fireface 802 aggregate in the main studio and a little audio fuse — remote unit — from 42 tracks down to just two actual phantom power available audio tracks with the audio fuse it appears to me the file structures are more less the same in Ventura at least just moving from Monterey though some folders/files libraries are hidden by default on new machine(s) I have most projects/samples and extra associated stuff on an external drive …so that is easier to keep track of — I am aware of /Music/Audio Music Apps/ but wasn't clear if/where personal preferences for example MIDI MAP and custom Keys commands are etc Thanks for the pointers
  2. rather than Migration Assistant I did a fresh install on a new MacBookPro Can someone please tell me where to move Logic settings on old system to new one?
  3. I'm still seeing this error in 10.6.1, too— "Missing Smart Tempo Multitrack Set 1.aif" which is neither in Audio Browser or TEMPO file but I get prompted for it

    Harmonica?

not FREE but if you are still looking the KORG M1 harmonica available on just about every platform these days iOS- SoftSynth plugin hardware etc — is pretty amazing to my ears and KORG just updated it's KORG COLLECTION plug-in series with a way improved GUI
  5. It's surprising to me how many of us (myself included) don't use the Logic Remote iPad more often. There's actually lots of applictions where I *prefer* a touch surface interface now and even the very first Logic Remote years ago was pretty amazing(!) hI have to agree PUSH 2 is excellent with LIVE even though I still have a lot to learn about it's features eg sampling integration — meanwhille, I haven't managed to even get LPX 10.5 to recognize the Push 2- though it appears everywhere else as expected — eg Audio Midi Setup etc
  6. Yes, unfortunately I didn't see anything change on that front yet either…so I went ahead and snagged the 30% discount and bought the LIVE suite. Considering how simple Rewire makes it so to use both LOGIC and ABLETON together or seperately ~ it's kind of hilarious how much energy people waste attacking eachother over which is the 'better/best' DAW ~ reminds me of the ancient days of PageMaker vs Quark …or the mac vs pc wars
  7. HI David has anything changed much with the LPX 10.5 upgrade in regards to MIDI implementation? While I welcome all the new features ~ by far the SINGLE main attraction in Ableton that really got me interested to start playing with and trying to learn and use the free LIVE trial is the way Ableton handles MIDI and tons of electronic hardware. I'm referring to the way you can quickly select or switch out any MIDI usb/DIN hardware/software device and have it control or be controlled by a different, independent device far away on the other side of the room. (Selections can be switched up on the fly within the 'channel strip' in Abletons SESSION view). While I am intrigued by LIVE LOOPs etc. tbh the more non linear aspects still drive me nuts trying to understand them In LOGIC unless somebody knows something I don't yet know how to do I believe we are (still) limited to a maximum of 16 MIDI devices on 16 channels regardless of which PORT those devices are on. (and although there are different ways to do this in Logic I have had best success using the software instrument/external instrument plug in) Previous to digging into LIVE here — my doing something similar to what I decribed above — within LOGIC required a 3rd party MIDI filtering device such as iConnectivity iCONNECT and it's own various software filtering apps eg -iConfig …since renamed Auracle)
  8. YES! I have routed LIVE into an AUX track but didn't yet knoiw how to record it YAY! Thanks will try it in a minute — this is brilliant for audio but what is the optimal way to get MIDI tracks from LIVE into Logic?
  9. While Recording — Is there a short cut to turn all my armed tracks off for playback and then turn them all back on without clicking each of them one by one?
  10. Yup… 3 years and a few upgrade versions later and this is still the case ~ just confirmed on a (heavily laden MIDI and many Plug-Ins) project a few minutes ago --another problem solved! thanks Eric & David
  11. After some long and complicated but friendly intervention and help exchanging configs and screenshots with another coincidentally Montreal Logic user through an iConnectivity support page and realizing their 'solution' was completely unrelated and they had even less of a handle on the Environment than I did. In any case. I finally came up with a quick down & dirty perhaps not terribly elegant solution which is working surprisingly well for me -- though I realize I am probably still better off to try diving into the Environment as ATLAS007 kindly posted and shared above. Hey it's only been a few decades lol In the meantime, I discovered I can enjoy all the benefits of iCONFIG routing and filtering and ALSO enjoy LOGIC recording MIDI in whichever designated device along with all my audio. That workaround is to simply plug in an additional MIDI interface not on the Mio10 DIN/USB chain and use the DIN inputs on them. When I use these new inputs not configured in the setup Logic has no problem reading and recording that information for me. This is particularly useful for me with a few external hardware machines conforming to the Producer Kits, but wow it would be sweet if it worked for everything simultaneously. Sigh. Meanwhile, I haven't looked at )Ableton) LIVE but just today finally downloaded MAINSTAGE 3 - curious to see how it has evolved since the last time I looked at it (several years ago). thanks again to everybody for their help Eric and you DAVID especially THANKS this forum is/continues to be… such a fabulous resource …. as always
  12. this is awesome - thanks you !for posting a VIDEO TUTORIAL Atlas I actually do a have a solution to at least the main issue I was moaning about that I will post below for everyone. Cheers
  13. WOW — Fernandraynaud! Thanks so much for this VERY HELPFUL post unravelling the never-ending many-layered and elusive mysteries of MIDI
  14. Hey, I was a very slow convert to X myself - several years - but love all the latest upgrades, now … that said you have to be willing and able to pay for them hardware wise - including TIME MACHINE - back up drive space etc as well as investing the considerable time in learning how best to use all the constantly evolving features I never lost any files either by the way in the way you describe in your O.P. - I still bring in files from 9 to X ~ no problem. I also keep a kick ass older Mac Pro loaded with not just older Logic but all kinds of legacy software so I can still edit and work with not just logic/apple [Final Cut Pro 9 ] but all kinds of external hardware and instruments …Electribe… Tenori-On ~ as far as that machine, there were times I regretted moving it up to the 10.8.5 its on now vs the 10.6.8 it was on but truth be told I rarely use it - though that may change again soon for an FCP animation project. I noticed there was considerable HOW-TO info for doing that downgrade to 10.6.8 (though I held back for some plug-in or another) perhaps if I start using more I will take that option.
  15. indeed, whether due to iOS and/or LOGIC updates LOGIC REMOTE stopped working on my old iPad 2 (many pin) device so I eventually went out and bought a new iPAD no regrets - the advances to the iOS audio/midi are so superb it gets way more use than just Logic Remote (which also works on our iPhones btw) oh and even though LOGIC Remote stopped working on it the older iPAD2 is still super useful to me - in fact, most of the iOS synths still work fairly well on it too still even if they don't have the newer /better bells and whistles - and if you have hardware to connect it eg Alesis iOS Dock it is still brilliant as a touchpad or general MIDI controller - but as long as that iPAD can just hold and serve as a reader for all the mountains manuals and dox I need its worth way more than it's trade in value
