  1. Ah yeah that is probably it. Why does logic even allow you to put things before bar 1 if it goes into meltdown when you do?
  2. Sorry you misunderstood. Watch the video again. The marquee selection skips the first transient and moves exactly to bar 1 and will not allow you to move the selection to the left of bar 1.
  3. Hey, recently I have been getting these annoying things happen when I use the marquee tool. This video will explain what is going on... Any ideas what is happening here, or is this just a standard buggy logic scenario?
  4. I have an apple cinema display without the dvi plug so I have bought a connection and am trying to work out how to wire it. Struggling to find any information about it online. I have a list of which number pins to solder, but what i can't work out is which wire inside the cable relates to which connection.
  5. Hello all, my dissertation is due tomorrow and to say I'm cutting it fine does not quite do justice to the situation. Anyway It would be great if you could fill in my short (8 question - multiple choice) survey on how you listen to music. I know the survey is very flawed but apparently my dissertation gains academic weight if I criticise myself so I'm not worried about that. http://harrysae.wufoo.com/forms/how-do-you-listen-to-music/ The survey takes probably under a minute so its not a particularly arduous task. Massive appreciation for anyone who is willing to take part! Harry
  6. Hmm, does not seem to work like that for me. I used "learn by key position" and assigned numberpad 3 to record and it says "replace recall screenset 3?" so I ok it. now pressing numberpad 3 works fine, but normal 3 also functions as record. Is there an osx setting I am missing?
  7. Can logic differentiate between the number pad and the regular numbers on an alpha numeric keyboard? I would like to have different key commands on the same number i.e. record on [number pad 3] and still be able to use regular 3 for another command. Is this possible?
  8. Processing wise you will be fine, however If you will be recording and/or streaming large numbers of audio tracks (i.e. recording a band) I would make sure that you record to an external firewire drive (make sure it is 7200rpm). Also what sort of setup do you intend on running? Firewire audio interface that handles both conversion and mic pres?
  9. Had my first commercial release the other day. Its a track I co-wrote and produced a few months ago. I didn't know it had been released until I saw it on TV! Better get signed up to PRS sharpish. TV Advert http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=1663635758505&oid=53528129266&comments iTunes Release http://itunes.apple.com/gb/album/uh-oh/id430877421?i=430877432 Only problem is I really don't like the song
  10. unfortunately solo isolating does not help. When you solo isolate the aux, you will no longer be able to solo individual elements as the whole kit will play through the solo isolated aux regardless of what you have soloed. You really should be able to change this behaviour in logic. Sometimes that is what you want but half the time that is really not what I want.
  11. Routing: - Individual drums being routed via bus 20 to two separate aux channels both with bus 20 as the input so I can parallel process the whole drum group What is currently happening: - When I solo an individual element of the drums i.e. the kick, the kick is soloed but is only being routed through the first aux channel What I want to happen: - I would like to be able to audition each element of the drums through both auxes to I can hear the effect of the parallel processing. Is this a logic bug, or is there a way round this? http://i.imgur.com/2SHPA.png
  12. Yeah I think it is pretty reasonable. The speed control really doesn't act like a compressor though, I guess its a bit like a transient shaper, but again it's not quite like one of them either. You need to have a go on one. I entered a competition to win one. its being drawn today. If I win, i'll put up some audio examples
  13. Was lucky enough to talk to Dave Hill (Crane Song inventor) today about his new preamp at the AES show in London. This thing was amazing! The amount of sounds possible with it blew me away. It goes from super-super clean to really coloured all with complete control. Also the 'speed' dial which he described to me as similar to 'slew rate' was incredible. He gave an example of an upright bass recording that was really clicky and had far too much attack so he dialled back the 'speed' dial and it really softened out the transients. Thought you guys should all have a look. (the website is a bit...) http://www.davehilldesigns.com/EUROPA_1.html
