Matt, you are right - my system / setup works fine - I rarely have issues even without incorporating an external HD. I can easily record multiple live instruments, utilize several Logic VI's / BFD 1.5 and apply a healthy amount of signal processing on the channel strips. It's been a great way to take a rough sketch to the next level.
Now, I do get the standard system overloads, but they rarely effect my work flow when I freeze tracks and increase my buffer size while working @ 24bit / 44.1k
My concern comes from the fact my machine is officially two years old, and the quality of converters in my consumer level Line 6 UX2.
My goal is to have a modest setup that can:
- Run Logic 9 and BFD 2.0 (3rd party software East-West PSP, NI) with ease.
- Be mobile - rack up and head to locations for tracking
- Record one instrument @ a time or a full band w/monitor mixes
- Record @ a high enough sample rate for transfer to a professional studio for finalize mixes or do additional tracking.
Triplets, if a simple memory up grade will allow my machine (in sig) to handle the load above, I'm all in - I just assumed that an SSD drive + memory would be a smart call.
Thanks to you both for jumping in -
