  1. Yeah I was starting to think the same thing. I'll consider getting another drive (I have one slot left) and NOT fill it with tons of samples and useless items that I filled with the current one. I've been saving up for a while for a Macbook Pro. Hopefully with one, the other, or both, I'll be able to solve this. Other than that I'm stuck with my depressing situation. Even worse, the 1Tb system drive I'm working with is WD brand. I'm surpassed it hasn't died on me yet.
  2. I wasn't even aware that 9.1.8 existed. My mac never showed me this option when updating. Anyway, I updated to Logic Pro 9.1.8. That didn't make a difference. The Disk I/O keeps spiking higher and higher as the song plays until it hits CPU Overload. But the error message I'm getting is more detailed now: "The Sudden Motion Sensor may have parked the hard drive head, or the disk performance is not sufficient to read or write all audio tracks, or the system was not able to process all data in time." Looks like it's a harddrive issue after all. My Mac Pro is early 2008. So that makes it a dinosaur.
  3. I produced a song from scratch, and have been scratching my head when it kept saying "CPU Overload" when I have about 1/20th of the activity I normally have in a song before it starts to CPU Overload on me. My computer is from 2008, but it should be built to handle what I have in logic with no problem. Or maybe...is my computer just getting too old? FYI I did research on many forums for an entire day before deciding to post. Here's what I'm working on: Logic 9.1.3 Mac tower: OX S Version 10.7.5 Processor: 2 x 2.8 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon Memory 8 GB 800 MHz DDR2 FB-DIMM Apogee Ensemble The drive I'm working off of has 1 TB capacity, with 110 GB available, format: Mac OS Extended (Journaled) Here's what's in my song: 18 tracks total Mostly audio samples VSTs: 3 Dune VSTs (64-bit), 3 Ivory VSTs (64-bit), and 1 omnisphere (32-bit) with the 32-bit audio unit bridge Max 2 effects on any given track: most FX are just EQ adjustments I have found the most BIZARRE work-around, and I'm hoping it can possibly shine the light on why I'm getting CPU Overload. When I open up System Performance, the the Disk I/O section just spikes randomly as the song plays and the spikes keep growing until it "CPU overloads." Sometimes one of the audio's spike (left side) to the limit too and causes the CPU overload as well. But mostly it appears that the Disk I/O section is what's responsible. I find that strange. I have space. But when I hit "File" > "Save A Copy As" then keep editing on the new project it works flawlessly with not even any activity in the Disk I/O section of the System Performance. But then I turn off my computer, turn it back on, and open the most recent copy, and CPU Overload is back and the song crashes unless I "File" > "Save A Copy As" again. So my solution has been to save a copy before I start working on it again. But what does this mean? Is this work-around a clue as to what might be wrong with my situation? Or is this just completely bizarre? I've tried freezing tracks but with no help on ameliorating CPU overloads. I've tried using the built-in.out audio instead of Apogee ensemble and it still CPU overloads. So it doesn't appear to be an issue with Apogee. I't seems that this is an issue that might have to do with the hard drive itself. But I'm not entirely sure. Thanks for any help.
  4. And 3 years later I just wanted to make a post to say that reading this solved my identical question of "Automation in Omnisphere." Thank you LogicProHelp.Com archives!!!
  5. I think this may just be my fault (as usual). I just realized I have a Direction Mix plug-in before my S1 Imager. It's set to 0 on the spread. I'm pretty sure that's why I'm getting problems with the S1 Imager.
  6. If your Mac has a single speaker, then that could simply mean out of phase material: you can hear it when played on two speakers, but sum both channels into one speaker and you get silence. Have you tried placing a Correlation meter on the last insert on the Stereo Output channel strip to check the phase? You're right this is out of phase material (and thanks for providing me this information!) The correlation meter shoots straight down to near -1 when the S1 Imager is on, and back up to near +1 when the s1 imager is bypassed. I guess now my question is: is the purpose of S1 imager to make out of phase material? Is that bad? Is there something I can do to remedy this? Or should I just stay off S1 Imager? I'm trying to recreate the effect with other plug-ins but I just can't find the right ones that make it sound "wide" enough without having some strange flange effect.
  7. Yeah it's got me stumped. Could be something I have wrong on my Logic set up. But still why would I be able to hear everything normal on headphones even after it's bounced and playing on iTunes but not on the built in Mac speakers? I think I'll have to contact Waves to figure this one out.
  8. Everything you guys say makes perfect sense. So what is the purpose of the S1 imager then? If it uses reverse polarity and mono systems cancel out the sound as a result, then is it logical to say that the S1 imager is a scam? Or is there something I could use to counter-act the reverse polarity but still preserve the stereo spread?
  9. Ah I see. I can switch the input mode from "L-input-R" to "M-input-S" then make the polarity both "+" But I still get the same effect with the disappearing instrument. So now I have no idea what the purpose of the S1 imager is if it does not work. *conf*
  10. This makes total sense to me. But now the problem becomes: what's the point of the plug-in S1 imager if it doesn't work? I haven't seen anyone else talk about it not working. Is it just my computer speakers that has one speaker thus producing the silenced sound? Or does using the s1 imager spell doom for any instrument I try to use it with?
  11. Hi all, I've had a nightmare experience lately with instruments disappearing. Everything sounds find via my Apogee Ensemble through Logic Pro 9, and even after I bounce it on iTunes. But when I unplug my Ensemble and listen to the track via my Mac's built-in speakers the main instrument sounds distant, almost completely removed. But when I plug in my headphones to even my Mac built-in speaker system the sound of that instrument sounds fine and perfect. I've narrowed it down exactly to the Waves - S1 Imager plug-in that makes the sound of my instruments disappear. When I bypass the S1 Image the instrument magically comes back on all audio listening platforms. But when I put back in that plug-in the instrument disappears...but ONLY one my built-in Mac speakers and on YouTube. I'm completely nonplussed at how I can bounce a track and it sounds fine but only through my sound system and not through normal speakers. When I load it up on YouTube I can't hear the main instrument either. But when I bring the song back into Logic I can even SEE that the instrument is loud but still no sound when playing through my Mac speakers. I don't understand how I can hear an instrument, see the sound wave of the instrument, but then it ultimately doesn't show up in the song?!? Does anyone have any suggestions besides "don't use that plug-in"? I would like to know if I'm doing anything wrong. If not then I guess I really won't use that plug-in. Maybe there's something I can do to ensure the track bounces in just stereo in case it bounces in surround but the surround gets dropped in systems that don't support surround?
  12. I have no idea how to explain this concisely. So here's the complicated version. I've found that when I put a kind of a plug-in, such as WAVES S1 Imager or Logic's own "stereo spread," on certain audio files the sound vanishes! But what's weird is I can hear it on my headphones but not on the speakers in the computer. For example I did a mix and put these plug-ins (S1 imager) on the vocals to make them spread out more. The vocals sounded fine on my headphones through my apogee emsemble, and even fine on my headphones when I plugged them straight into my computer (apogee turned off this time). However when I hear the song from the built in speakers on my computer the vocals are gone! And when I upload it to YouTube and play it back on my computer speakers or iPhone for example the vocals are still gone! But if I plug in my headphones and listen on YouTube the vocals magically appear. My only reaction at this time to this is "what?!?!?" This makes absolutely no sense to me. The weirdest part is I see the wave files on the vocals. They are as big as the other audio regions. Logic's monitor shows it reaching as high as the other tracks on volume. Yet it doesn't play on my computer nor does it play after I put it online unless I listen through my headphones. All I can gather is I'm introducing some kind of speaker system that most platforms, including YouTube, doesn't recognize...so the sound is dropped? I don't understand how that is possible though. Maybe I accidentally hit some kind of speaker surround button that makes my music only compatible with a certain speaker set up. Any help or questions would be greatly appreciated thanks!
  13. *sigh* I should have waited 6 years to buy Logic Pro for $800 cheaper.
  14. Interesting. So the more regions I have the more Logic chokes with automation but only in 64-bit? I don't understand why that would happen. But you think the memory from the audio regions is due to a LOT of audio regions? Do these regions include MIDI regions as well or just on the tracks with the actual wave files (i.e. without the virtual instruments)? For the audio regions I do have everything chopped up. Strangely enough this is how I work where each individual kick is it's own region. Maybe I should start looking into the clone regions and see if that helps.
