  1. You certainly were, Eric. I was mistakenly comparing it to the “New with Next Channel Strip/Instrument” command in LP9 – which always creates a new instrument! The “New Track with Next Midi Channel" command hasn’t disappeared, but it HAS been renamed. Two uses of the word ”channel” in Logic – channel strip and Midi channel. I think it would have been better to have kept the original wording - which always said channel strip and Midi channel – just to avoid the confusion!
  2. I can't see anything about polyphonic Flex Pitch...
  3. I've performed some quick tests and found that with normal settings Melodyne definitely sounds better. However, when I played with the Formant Track setting, LPX started to sound very close to Melodyne. I should say that these tests were with large interval changes (a third).
  4. Hi cmrick Thanks for the confirmation. It’s an odd bug. I also spent ages trying to make it work Have you reported it to Apple? http://www.apple.com/feedback/logic-pro.html
  5. Thanks Eric - much appreciated. Wow, that's a real backwards step. Multi-timbral plug-ins were handled well in LP9 because you could simply add extra tracks (with increasing Midi channel). Now you have to go back to the Environment? Sheesh Ok, so you CAN create a multi-timbral software instrument with LPX - but you have to decide in advance how many channels to use!
  6. Think we posted at the same time So what are Apple thinking in removing the "New Track with Next Midi Channel" command? How do you now set up multi-timbral plug-ins?
  7. The key command in LP9 was called "New Track with Next Channel Strip / Instrument" and defaulted to OPT-CMD-X. The same key command name is available in LPX (but defaults to shift-return) But in LP9 I had to use "New Track with Next Midi Channel" to create a track with the next Midi channel - but that isn't available in LPX
  8. But I think that refers to next channel strip (Inst 3, Inst 4 and so on), not next Midi Channel number The "New Track with Next Midi Channel" command has disappeared from the menu and from the key command list.
  9. Hi All Been going through the new features of Logic X and think I have found a bug – would appreciate any confirmation. I cannot set an External Assignment for a Smart Control in a Track Stack (summing). It DOES work if I am using the Smart Control for the Track Stack itself, but does NOT work if I try to assign an external controller for a Smart Control of a software synth track within the Track Stack. This is a fully repeatable error on my system. Thanks
  10. Yes - I think the "New Track with Next Midi Channel" key command has also disappeared
  11. I recently performed a number of efficiency tests comparing Logic Pro 9 and Studio One – both latest versions. In every single test, Logic was more efficient (checking with Activity Monitor) and usually by quite a margin. For example, in one test (using Kontakts and VE Pro) Logic would average about 125% CPU, S1 would average over 200%. What was really odd was the idle time CPU usage. When everything had stopped playing, and reverb tails were finished, Logic would use about 5-10% CPU. S1 would still be using about 150% - not good for laptops, those fans will never stop running. Also odd was that S1 would cause VE Pro to use more CPU than Logic as well (160% vs 80%). So whatever magic dust the developers used in Logic, it works extremely efficiently!
