gordy
Hi, I'm using an 11" MacBookAir with Logic Pro X 10.0.7 (bought from the app store) and I need to convert or bounce a stereo (spoken word) audio file (for an audio book) down to a mono track. After importing the stereo file, I then got to the mixer and click the Input button to Mono, and change the "Stereo Out" to "Output > Mono > Output One". However, the audio is then panned either hard left or right depending on whether i choose Output One or Two in the Output section. I understand stereo and realise this would be the case, but the pan pot disappears when the channel is changed to mono, so I am unable to compensate. I am not using any stereo effects, it's just a straight stereo to mono conversion - or will be once I work out how to do it...! Any ideas? Thank you
David Nahmani
You need to: 1) Click the format button at the top of the Output channel strip to turn it from a stereo Output: ... to a pair of mono output channel strips: 2) Click the Bnce button at the bottom of one of the mono Output channel strips. gordy
Hi David, I did that, but the resulting mono track is panned either hard left or right depending on which of the mono channel strips I bounce. Do you know to 'centre' the mono track as it's bounced? Thank you for your time. Gordy
David Nahmani
Hi David, I did that, but the resulting mono track is panned A mono track only contains a single audio signal, therefore by definition it cannot be panned: you need two audio signals in order to start panning something. Check your bounced file: is it really a mono file? When you import it back into Logic, you can check its format by looking at the symbol next to the name of the region: - one circle = mono file - two circles = stereo file
gordy
Bingo! David, thank you. Yes of course, once I've bounced it down and then listen back on any device, it is indeed "centered". Thank you again. Gordy
