schubert1983
Hi, I am relatively new to Logic Pro X and I love the new drummer feature.. Is there a way to change the samples that are used in a drum kit without having to load my entire sample set into an EXS24 sampler.. What I want to do is load up an existing producer drumkit and modify only the kick sample there and save it as my Custom Preset Thanks for the help
David Nahmani
What I want to do is load up an existing producer drumkit and modify only the kick sample there and save it as my Custom Preset You can customize it using Logic's factory samples: for more choices, use the equivalent producer kit in the Library (so instead of trying to customize say, SoCal, try to customize SoCal+ in the Producer Kits folder). Click "Drum Kit" at the top of the channel strip and in Drum Kit Designer, click the Kick and choose your favorite kick from the column on the left. schubert1983
Thanks for the quick reply.. I followed your suggestion, but it gives me a limited set of options from within logic's own set of kick samples. I have a sample in 24bit wav format that I would like to use instead. Is this possible?
Solution David Nahmani Posted September 29, 2014 Solution Share Posted September 29, 2014 You'd have to use the EXS24 to use your own samples. You can click right onto the Drum Kit Designer plug-in on the channel strip and choose EXS24. That opens the same sample set into the EXS24 which is completely customizable. So now you can switch just some of the samples for your own custom ones.

crosswick
This is a very helpful tip for me as well, still... when I load up my customized (different snare & kick) Motown Revisited preset in DKD and then 'convert' it to a EXS24 instance, what I get is a default Motown Revisited preset. Furthermore I don't see a means of selecting the different snares & kicks in the edit window of EXS24... I'd love some info on this.
David Nahmani
Try playing all the different samples in the EXS24, playing different MIDI pitches, to see if you can find the samples you want to re-customize the kit? What is your goal?
crosswick
I've done that... there's only 1 snare and 1 kick in the preset I get. My goal is to take the Motown Revisited kit I customized in DKD itself (different snare & kick) and customize it even further in EXS24 by adding a second, lower snare and perhaps more. crosswick
BTW, I've also tried to first save my DKD preset before switching to EXS24: same behaviour, it resets to the default Motown Revisited kit.
David Nahmani
I've done that... there's only 1 snare and 1 kick in the preset I get. Motown Revisited Kit has 9 snares triggered by Bb-2, D-1, Ab0, Bb0, Db1, D1, E1, Bb4 and D5.
crosswick
I've tried those notes just now... they are all variants of the same snare, which seems to be AnKit7:Sn1. The other two snares that can be selected in the DKD interface (which are most likely AnKit7:Sn2 and -3) are nowhere to be found in the EXS24 edit window...
