Ok, Beej, I've obviously missed something. Where did you learn that Sound Forge is being ported to the Mac? When can we expect it? I'm with you that this is more exciting than a new version of Logic at the moment. When it happens it will "good-bye WaveLab" in my studio.

Lots of clues in the videos, particularly with phrases like "No bias here" and "you asked for it", plus the screenshot teasers show it's obviously SoundForge (and it looks great!)

Woah, that's a good news!! :) I've used SF for years on the PC and while I dig Peak and DSP Quattro, I would jump on he opportunity to work w/ Sound Forge again anytime.

Thanks for those links Beej. You are right that there are a number of clues in the teaser that certainly imply Sound Forge (including the shot of a literal metal forge). The app that was most painful for me to leave behind when we made the leap from a PC to Mac based studio was in fact Sound Forge. If the port to OS X is as solid, powerful and intuitive as the PC version, I will be one very happy Mac user.

I had thought leaving ACID on the PC would be painful, but my experience is that Logic (unlike Sonar) is every bit as musical in its time stretching algorithms, and is as quick and easy for generating sketches and elements for larger arrangements as ACID.

True for me too, and many other people in the discussion threads over the years.

There are other great wave editor apps out there, but nothing on the Mac felt as good to me, or had a similar workflow, as SF, and for Sony to wake up to Mac development, and kickstart it with SF (and putting in enough development to actually re-invent SF for the Mac, rather than a straight dumb port) is really good news.

Sorry for bringing the thread back to actual, real, serious non-speculation-based content, though... ( ! )

Well, Beej, a little more support today for the rumor that Sound Forge may be coming to the Mac. Sony announced SpectraLayers Pro audio editor will be available for both PC and Mac. That is the first Sony pro audio editor to be made available for the Mac, maybe Sound Forge is next...

It's clearly SoundForge - look:

Spectralayers Pro is an app that was already cross-platform, just bought and rebranded as Sony. That's different from Sony taking an existing PC-only product and specifically developing a Mac version.

Did Apple send the boys round to delete those applications and steal your installer disks?

if so, yeah I'd be pretty annoyed too...

Logic and Mainstage will still be supported. However, STP and Wave Burner have effectively been end-of-lifed, so no, they will not be supported going onwards...
