Buildafriend
How do you use external effects processors with logic?
Jordi Torres
Check out the I/O plug-in. J.
Buildafriend
Greatly appreciated. I wonder how I can access the I/O setup.. : )
Buildafriend
Click an Insert slot of an aux channel strip (being used as a bus send/return), and choose Utility > I/O.

bettygoo
Related question: I've got the I/O set up all well and good (apparently). My effect returns a signal and I can hear it even with the input muted on my input device so it seems to be getting all the way back to Logic. However, the effect won't print, whether I try it while tracking or during a mix bounce or by using "Bounce Region to Track," etc. Thoughts? -------- Logic Studio 9 | Intel MacMini 2 gHz Core Duo | OS 10.6.
David Nahmani
Bounce in real time.

Melodyne is such a plug in. Don´t know if there are any other recording plug ins out there, think voxengo does one but win only I have purpose built a recording plug in Bidule AU for this that works amazingly for this kind of stuff. If there are any Bidule users who would like to have it, Pm me.
shivermetimbers
Set the I/O utility plug in direct on the channel strip. Solo safe the output channel you use for the I/O and record directly to a new audio track ( in real time) via whatever input you select. bettygoo
Both great options, thanks you two! The Melodyne trick worked perfectly but outputting to another track is just what I was looking for. Now I can distort the fx in real time and capture the weirdness. Cheers!
veseliburek
Hi, this is my first post . Sorry for resurrecting a thread, but it came out on google and I feel it's appropriate I ask my question here. I routed an external reverb through my audio interface on a separate aux bus (Logic 9.1.7, OS X 10.9.2, Presonus AudioBox 44VSL interface), but due to a limited amount of inputs/outputs, I would like to record reverb output on a separate track while I continue to mix the track. What is the best way to do this?
David Nahmani
Just think of your reverb as any instrument you'd like to record, like a vocal mic for example: you connect the output of your reverb to an available input on your AudioBox, create a new audio track set to that input number, record-enable the track and press record. veseliburek
Yeah, that makes sense, thanks. As for latency compensation, I shoud probably measure it using I/O plugin on an aux track, and then apply the same sample delay on a track with recorded reverb? David Nahmani
If you can ping the delay using the I/O plug-in then there's no need to apply any sample delay anywhere, Logic's Latency compensation (if set to "All") will take care of it for you. pretzelstickstudio
A related problem I'm having. I have a Lexicon reverb unit connected to my interface, routed to output 6&7 and returned to Input 6&7, I'm getting the reverb effect through the monitors even if I haven't routed it to the IN/OUT? I'm sure I must have something set up incorrectly, but I'll be damned if I can figure it out. Any help would be appreciated. I'm using a Fireface 800. shooten
Old thread but I had this problem this morning with an RME UCX. The Fireface interfaces have their own mixer. You have to make sure you’re not toting through that in addition to any routing in Logic. Creates all sorts of chaos.
