Projects start loading but never opens, just keeps loading

I can only open a project file when the last project that has been used opens automatically, which is when I click the Logic desktop icon either after forcing Logic to shut down or when I click the Logic desktop icon the first time after having the computer shut down.

When I try to open a project file which isn't the one I used last and therefore doesn't open automatically at certain points, the project starts to load but nothing happens after that and eventually I have to force Logic to shut down.

It says:

Loading "File Name"

...and the gray loading bar is full from the beginning, and then nothing happens.

There are updates for logic pro 9.0.0 which is in your signature. Try updating Logic

you might look to see if a dialogue window is open on a different screen (or desktop in lion) i've had that happen quite a few times.
