Playback & Record Positioning in Cycle Mode [SOLVED]

Postby peachboy » Wed Jun 13, 2012 3:36 am

Hi,

This is probably going to sound like a really dumb question, and I should know the answer to this (given that I've been using Logic since 1995)....

...but...

Is there any way, when cycle mode is on, that I can start playing or recording from the song's current position? Everytime I hit play or record it jumps back to the beginning of the cycle (i.e the first locator).

As a workaround I momentarily take cycle mode off, hit play at the current position, and then put cycle mode back on again - not exactly ideal. There surely must be a way of playing a song from it's current position while in cycle mode?

Click and hold the left mouse button on the little Play button in the transport.
Choose the behavior you want.

And if you wish to retain Logic's default play modes, you can use the pause button.

So with cycle on, playhead wherever you want:

- Press pause to engage the pause button.
- Press pause again to start playback at the playhead position (or press record, the pause again to start recording at the playhead position).

Note that you will not get a count-in when recording that way (independently of your count-in settings in that project).
