TomcatToo
I'm thinking about installing a 500 gig Samsung EVO 840 SSD in my Mac Mini and I'm wondering how much headroom (unused blank space) is normally left on an SSD (on a HDD it is normally about 30%)? Thanks, Tom
triplets
On spinning system drives it's 20% free space. On SSDs you can probably have it at 10% no problem.
JonathanRace
Yeah would make sense that you can get away with less. Funnily enough I'm looking at that exact one OP hopefully not long till I can get it
fisherking
i would suggest leaving 15-20%; the need for 'headroom' is really dependent more on the OS, and the needs of apps themselves...better to have more breathing room on ANY drive...
