install leopard on a macbook pro w/broken cd drive

Recommended Posts

hi fellows

i have my old daw (mid 2009 15" macbook pro) with a Disk i/o error.

the hdd needs to be replaced, i've found a very mnice deal for a replacement hdd

the problem is that the cdr drive is totally broken and it can be booted with the original disk when replaced

i want if possible to avoid the expensive apple service (they charge about 80€ per hour)

thanks :D

J.

Did you have a chance to create a disk image of the operating system's disk? That way you can create a bootable USB flash drive.

Otherwise you would have to upgrade to Mavericks, which is free, and is download only thru the App Store. But then you're Logic 8 is not gonna work.

Or buy the external USB Superdrive.
