leeguirado
which is better out of itunes or beatport for buying tracks? I understand that tracks in WAV format are better. But i paid 2.50 for a track in beatport, and you can get some tracks for as little as 75p on itunes. If i am djing using these tracks will you be able to hear a clear difference between wav, aiff and mp3?
Blue Monkey
If i am djing using these tracks will you be able to hear a clear difference between wav, aiff and mp3? WAV and AIFF are full/high resolution files, MP3 is a compressed file with less resolution so for the best quality go for the WAV or AIFF files. Eric Cardenas
... will you be able to hear a clear difference between wav, aiff and mp3? No. I'm pretty sure you will not. iTunes music is in AAC (256) instead of MP3. I can not distinguish a good conversion from PCM in an ABX test. leeguirado
ok thanks, ill go for the highest quality even if it is more pricey
Eric Cardenas
My suggestion is that you buy the cheapest one. A compressed file is also much ore manageable as it's approximately between 5-10 times smaller than the PCM version (WAV, AIFF).
leeguirado
ok ill keep that in mind, and they will be good enough to play in clubs when djing?
Blue Monkey
If the price difference isn't extreme I would buy the PCM (WAV or AIFF) version. If you want a compressed file of the PCM, for some reason, you can convert it to MP3 yourself and choose your desired resolution. You'll then be able to compare the files yourself to see what is acceptable for your application.
