leeguirado
I am running logic X on a 2010 mac, Apple iMac 21.5" - Intel Core i3 @ 3.06 GHz / 4 GB / 500 GB. My HD bar is pushing to the limit, what is the best way to prevent this? Am i best getting an external hardrive and storing all plugins on that? David Nahmani
Where you store your plug-ins won't make a difference, unless you're talking about sample libraries that stream their samples from HD in real time. What makes a difference is to stream less data (audio recordings) or to get a faster HD such as an SSD for your iMac. An external drive can also help lowering the burden on your internal drive. You could consider an external SSD for your Logic Pro X projects.

Then start by getting an external HD, either spinning at 7200 rpm or an SSD, that is USB 3, firewire or thunderbolt. I was told to ask my DAW's website for help on finding a recommended external hard drive for logic www.macsales.com Choose usb 3.0, firewire, or thunderbolt and make sure it's 7200 rpm for spinning drives. SSDs are whatever you can afford.

Yes, as long as it's 7200 rpm and not USB 2.
