Mic'ing amp= shitty quality...

Recommended Posts

hey guys im fairly new to logic... I have numerous guitar and i play through a 3rd Power amp with a celestion gold speaker (check those amps out). Playing live or just around the house my tone is amazing but in my studio when mic'd coming though logic not so much. i keep the amp isolated and use a 57 on the grill and a condenser about 3 feet away. but my tone still sounds thin and brittle. PLEASE HELP!!!!!

Does it sound fuller if you mute the condenser mic? The mic is ONLY picking up the sound where it is pointed, you are hearing the amp in the room interacting with the walls etc. There are TONS of videos on youtube on amp micing techniques, try some of them. Then try again. and again. It takes practice! By the way, what interface and software are you using? It helps us to help you if you put in your signature line.
