New MAC PRO

Postby Sniper » Fri Sep 22, 2006 11:49 am

Hey people,

I am interested in getting the new macpro, and was wanting to know what kind of display(s) that you might be using,

I want to be able to go with 2 displays but the Apple displays are alittle pricey.

I read somewhere that the DVI ports on the on the MACPRO's Video card are too close together, you can't get two connectors in connect at the same time.

ANY TRUTH TOO THAT??

What kind of LCD monitors are you using with the macpro?

Thanks

I just happen to be looking at the Mac Pro's today. The main thing to know
and you can check this out on the site, they offer 6 different cards by ATI and NVIDIA. If the card supports 2 monitors or not, is a design of the card manufacturer not Apple. Apple does state that each card will support up to 2 displays. I dont think they would print that if there was a problem.

Hi,

I bought a macpro 2,66GHz just yesterday.
together with 2x 17" displays (neovo F417)
The nice guy at the shop gave me two dvi to vga connectors.
Those fit nicely.
But indeed the previous dvi and dvi to vga connectors where larger. (the one that came with my powerbook)
When buying a macpro there are 2 "small" DVI to DVI adapters included.
So no worry. If you buy VGA screens (hey these are less expensive) than ask for DVI to VGA adapters that fit. (test it in the store, I did)

btw I'm very happy with the macpro!
My upgrade to Logic 7.2.3 is in the mail so no comments about logic on the macpro yet :(

Hope to have helped,

Jesse

Hi,

i've got a MacPro 2x2,66, after having had a Mac mini. I had trouble connecting my two VGA-monitors (19'' and 20'') using one of the DVI-to-VGA connectors that came with the mac MINI. It was too wide so i couldnt squeeze it in with the connector that came with the MacPro. Bought another connector at the apple store, worked like a charm!

We just set up 2 Viewsonic 23: Widescreen Monitors... no problem with connectors
Might be pricey but the gain in productivity is easily worth the price.

I just received my logic 7.2 upgrade friday.
It works great with the macpro!
Songs that gave a systemoverload on my powerbook now hardly makes the processors work for 15% :-)

I'm happy!

These two fit on my friends mac pro. And for the price, these things are amazing, even for out of there price range.
