Intel - Do tell...

Postby Musicianista » Thu Oct 26, 2006 2:12 am

Hi gang,

This week I upgraded to the Intel iMac 24 from a Dual 867. It has the faster 2.33ghz processor, 500 gig drive and the 7600 graphics upgrade with 2gig of ram.

This is my first experience with an Intel Mac. Logic settled in after a couple of days, but my AMT8 refused to respond and was replaced with a MOTU Microlite.

I have the studio running again now with only a few hiccups here and there. It wasn't as easy as I had expected or wanted it to be, but we both seemed to survive.

What is the dirt on the new Intel Duo processors in general?

I made this crossover from my trusty G4 for purely ergonomic reasons, as I haven't used PCI cards for years and always had to have the G4 in another room due to the noise.

The iMac is dead quiet and supremely powerful, but also brand new technology. Something I swore I would never do again!

My Dual 867 was rock solid. What can I expect in Intel Land???
Cheers,
Ando

Only thing wrong to me is the delay getting all the plugs ported. I think the developers were caught with their pants down with Apples quick transition.
