MPK knob issues

Postby Grizzo » Sat May 05, 2012 1:48 pm

Hey all.

I'm running logic 9 and I've recently purchased an Akai MPK mini. It's definitely plug and play, but I'm running into some issues.

I plug in my keyboard and then I open the software editor and load preset 1 from the factory. Then I open up logic, sync my equipment, and start recording. However, knob 7 sends out a CC for volume, but it's not centered. The knob is about 75% to the right when my track volume zeros out. I'm assuming this is because it's not "perfectly" balanced out on the knob.

I'm also unsure as to what the other knobs do, and I'm currently trying to trak down a CC list that I can use for reference. I'm just wondering if anyone with an mpk has run into similar issues when trying to correctly set it up in logic. Any help would be appreciated.

Still having issues here. I just want my board to balance out. The software editor for the nok mini shows that all 8 control knobs are centered. They all seem to be off a little bit though, becase when I try to move the volume up a few levels it "jumps" above or below. Out of all the experience on this website, someone should know the answer to this embarrassingly basic problem.

I'm not sure what you are saying here.

I'm not exactly sure what you are describing, and I don't have an MPK but looking at the specs it does not look like the knobs are rotary encoders. If they are not, the what you are describing my be the "pickup" behavior of knobs. If you knobs are not rotary encoders, they have to "pick up" the current position of a control before they start adjusting it. When they do pick it up, there is almost always a jump in the value. This is why I hate knobs and will only use rotary encoders or motorized faders. The cheapest rotary encoders I know of are the nocturn series from novation.
