No, "exactly". A rumor is a rumor until confirmed.

Anyway, I got the same email from Redmatica. Didn't find it terse at all. It's short, informative, mentions that software updates are still available. What more is there to say? I don't think that Andrea owes anyone any explanations, the software I bought runs perfectly, so as a Redmatica customer I'm perfectly content and I wish him well.

What I meant, Ski, is that the Fanblog site did not post a "rumor." It posted the information present in the actual document from the Italian Agency who approved the deal. It offered a link -- the very one I posted here -- so people who understand Italian could see it for themselves. So, in its very origin, the post was a true, factual report of an official document. Sorry if I didn't make it clear the first time.

Is it clear to anybody if the apps will remain in the app store, or be pulled? Obviously the features won't be updated, but I wonder if maintenance updates will be made to keep up with new OS cycles? It would be good to know if they are going to disappear after June 12th, or if they can be converted to serial no. apps as the ones from the Redmatica shop are.

trafficarte wrote:On the link posted by Eric, in the first comment, you can read this:

When I was working, I used Redmatica AutoSampler daily. Having the same features added to EXS24 / Logic Pro / GarageBand would be absolutely mindboggling (and much appreciated, btw.)
However, more to the point, Apple could use this transient-chopping technology to automatically and anonymously chop up the Siri speech-content into syllables and thus be able to beef up their Siri very, very quickly.
I'm guessing that if Redmatica + Siri = true , eventually we will have a possibility of chopping up the recognizable sounds of a human being, tweaking them and reorganizing/re-ordering them into a second language not spoken by the original speaker. It's going to be absolutely awesome - Apple would also be able to use this tech to pull off additional languages for Siri to recognize in the future.
After all, they already have access to spoken word podcasts, interviews, dialogues in film / tv-series -- what's to stop them from chopping that up using Redmatica tech and run the film-subtitles and the audio into Siri tech and thus improve Siri by leaps and bounds? Nothing, that's what.
Can't wait.

Someone else answer : "Ever heard of Vocaloid?
Because that's exactly what it does "

I suspect that Apple want to transplant Redmatica's technology into something else than Logic and similar softwares.
This is a big possibility. Voice recognition is one of the hottest areas. I actually think there is more of a reason to use this company for Siri (or other tech) than there is for Logic.

I'm thinking that updates would now be an Apple decision( don't hold your breath ), and he's now working on Apple products.

That's exciting. But at the moment, Apple seem to be buying out software then burying it to secure the market.
The EXS is awesome though could do with a revamp. I don't think its changed since I had a G3!

I received an email last week concerning Redmatica.... It was very short and to the point....

Dear Redmatica Customer,
After eight wonderful years of developing creative sampling tools, I have decided to close Redmatica to pursue other interests. Thank you for all your patronage!

Andrea Gozzi, Founder

SOFTWARE
You should download the updates from:

These downloads will be available until June 12th, 2012. We recommend downloading the updates as soon as possible.
The following serial codes required to install and use these updates:

This is very exciting to me... I use this in spurts.... And sometimes for months at a time.... It is very complex and extremely useful ... if Apple gets ahold of it... This should make the filing system more proficient! Auto Sampler is an incredible APP !!!

Love this!!!

yes, we will. In the meantime, I don't think we'll see support for our Redmatica apps drop off overnight. The more important aspect of all this is that it demonstrates that Apple is continuing its investment into audio and music applications and has the professional user in mind. To me, that's the big news in this.

I've always been certain that Apple won't drop the "pro" arena.
For me all this talk about abandoning logic, GB pro or no Mac Pro, has just been rumors started by dramatic people... not that far from the Mayan calendar.

Some people love to Hate on Apple products... or maybe they like to just create drama because they have nothing els to offer... I have been making music all my life.... Started on Logic Waaaaay back.... Moved over to MBOX protools when everyone els did in the early 00's.... Re-Discovered my love of MIDI.... Realized protools stinks for midi and moved back to logic when I had to pay 1000.00 for version 7.

Redmatica is an obvious solution for Logic Pro.... EXS is an incredibly powerful tool when teemed up with Redmatica products. Sampling Vinyl is nearly impossible without it...

I find Ableton Live the most powerful sampler of all.... so tricky and vibrant... Sampling from Vinyl becomes really easy with LIVE..... Mixing sucks....

Blah Blah... and so on...

Re: Apple buys Redmatica! ^CONFIRMED^

I predicted this years ago. Andrea has just been running circles around the whole sampling part of Logic for a long time. Surely Apple had their eye on him (and I always thought it was him, or his team, not the products).

To continue with my prediction: We'll see some of the features built into Logic, mostly around the EXS Manager, which will hearken back to the.... oh man! old timers, what was it called? "asset library?" .... that's not it, but anyway, it never worked that well, and Redmatica started shortly after that Logic feature came out. After that, I'd say we'll see some of the Keymap features, both the creative and the workaday sample development tools. I have a feeling that AutoSampler will not be continued/incorporated, because it's primarily a tool for MIDI hardware - I know, I know, it supports softsynths (and I've used it for them), but still, I don't think that it'll happen.

I've often thought about what will happen when Andrea works with a large team of experienced developers (and product marketing folks) at Apple. Seriously, I've really imagined this a lot! Because, although I have immense respect for Andrea and am a customer, the UI on the Redmatica stuff is just ridiculous. Quite creative, surely, but too many features duplicated, 3x ways to do the same thing (menu, control click, submenu), chiclets running up and down the sides of the windows, crazy stuff!. I never really got far with Keymap, as the learning curve was just too steep, though EXS Manager saved my butt many a time, and I was able to confidently sell MiID hardware after "archiving it" with AutoSampler. So I do have mixed feelings, obviously.

My guess is that the Apple folks are going to gently school the team on features vs. usability and will simplify the workflow - fewer options = easier to use. Maybe there will be some AppleLoops integration, who knows?

Wow, this ended up kind of reading like a Eulogy for Redmatica. Not intended, but I'll go with it. Looking forward like everyone to seeing where this goes - but I think we won't see anything tangible for 2 years.

Thanks Andrea!!

That sounds like an excellent idea to me - the look and feel of the Redmatica software seems to be very compatible with Logic's visual interface, so having aspects of them becoming integrated with the EXS editor software sounds like a pretty cool prospect, if that's the way its going.

Well, I just bought Autosampler in May from the App Store - now what? :?: :?: And redmatica.com is down as well.
I hope this means good things are afoot but I was just hoping to get more information about importing patch names from my CZ-230s since the manual is not very detailed... ah wells.

Seems I missed this notice as well:

Apple-acquired music editing software firm Redmatica closes; product support will end on 12 June

http://thenextweb.com/apple/2012/06/08/apple-acquired-music-editing-software-firm-redmatica-closes-product-support-will-end-on-12-june/

-If you purchased Redmatica software on the Mac App Store, be sure to make a backup for later use.

- If you purchased Redmatica software on the Redmatica Online Store, an email has been sent to your registered email address with a new serial code and a link to download updated software with new streamlined copy protection. These downloads will be available for a limited time. We recommend downloading the updates as soon as possible.
