Thank you and thank you David!
I honestly couldn't have done it without your books.
It's a NI Massive patch I created. I can't remember the wave tables I used, but I created two instances. The first instance sweeps a LPF at a 12th not time signature, and the other at a 24th. By itself it doesn't sound too interesting. I HPF the sound around 110Hz, sent this to a UAD Helios for some character and boost around 200Hz, then I sent it to an external Sammut Audio 2ba-221 tube prea-amp for some analog character, then to a UAD Fatso Jr for some more distortion and very light compression, then more EQing on the UAD Cambridge to blend it into the song.... (maybe this was totally overkill). I added some gated reverb in Space designer to make it sound big but cut off quickly in order to leave space for the other instruments and not muddy the mix up.
As a side note, I also used a Moog Slim Phatty in this song. It was an educational experience syncing it to logics clock and fully integrating it to act like a soft synth (including sample and midi delays). However, I wouldn't recommend this synth to anyone. The firmware is a bit buggy and it take a long time to warm up the the VCO... ontop of that, the oscillators aren't even that stable and continuously drift by several 10's of cents... it's sloppy sounding. There's my rant about that.
