Lost ability to use some plugs in STP

Postby gtodd876 » Sun Apr 10, 2011 3:19 pm

Somehow I lost the ability to use some plugs-ins in STP. They work fine in Logic in the same session but they are grayed out in STP. Seems kind of random which ones are grayed out as well. 3rd party and Apple plugs, most of the reverbs are grayed out. I have the file highlighted, not sure why it won't let me use them. Never had this problem before and the plugs are in the same components folder that they've always been in. Anybody have an idea what happened?

Maybe you're on a Mono track and those plug-ins are Stereo (or vice versa)!?

Maybe a corrupt project? Does this happen on all projects or just this one? Lousy consolation, but everything works here.

Thank you for the advice. Good call on the mono vs. stereo. I looked into it and the grayed out plugs should have mono and stereo versions. At least they do in Logic.

I checked some of my other songs and they work fine so I'm thinking something might have gotten corrupted. Any advice on how to do the un-corrupting?

I attached a screenshot showing my Soundtoys plugs menu as an example. Only Panman is grayed out.

In other news, I highly enjoyed your tutorials Doug. Thanks for helping me on my path to Logic wizard.

Opps I uploaded a different screenshot but at least it shows the same problem with my 2C-Audio reverb plugs.

I haven't had to this much in STP so I'm only guessing - but I think I'd open the project in question and also open up a fresh project. Then manually set up tracks and copy/paste clips. This won't copy automation, for example, but you can do this separately.

Your screenshot showed up when I posted my reply. Looks like you're in an audio project tab, not a multitrack project tab. This problem should be clip specific.

Close STP and re-open. Then open up that clip in a new audio tab, try the same plug-in. If it's grayed out, I'd certainly look to see whether the clip is mono or stereo and try applying the plug-in to a like format clip. If the plug-in works for a like formatted clip, the clip itself could be the problem.
