Eric, David will have to confirm this, but I believe my post was the first concerning this (at least in the main Logic forum). I take my "FIRST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" very seriously... ;)

PS. I'm very excited about the news, if it's confirmed to be true!

You're right Darude, Eric had posted it in the "News" forum. But IMO this is news enough to be a sticky in the Logic forum so I moved it here! :D

Phew, so we're both first, I get to keep my cred... ;) My thinking was that I'm not brave enough to post it as 'news' as it's still not confirmed. Eric, FIRST-post truce? :D

Firstly - gosh! What a rumour!

Hmm... strikes me as odd.

I'm not sure Andrea would want to be part of Apple - he's spend a heckuva lot of time developing those products, and Apple sure as hell aren't buying Redmatica (if true) for the applications - they'd be buying the brain trust of sampler handling and pro audio features - Andrea is probably the one person outside of Apple who knows just as much about Apple's sampler formats and Logic as the dev team - and he has a good relationship with the Logic development team.

So *IF* this were true, I suggest that nothing would happen to the apps immediately, but development would slow (although they are all pretty mature now) and Andrea would get more involved in developing the ProAudio stuff - which means perhaps Apple are heavily investing in the sampling and sampler side of Logic?

I can't imagine Andrea sell to kill the apps he's worked so hard developing for the last ten years, or lose the direct, excellent personal support he takes pride in.

Odd rumour... let's wait and see...

hmmm... i've heard the name here and there but never actually used anything of theirs...

was just looking at this -

surely it'd be way quicker to just do that in logic, ? He had to sit there for 5 minutes...
Logic 9.1.3 .
OS X 10.6.5, Mac Pro,
M Audio Firewire 410,
Roland SH-201 (used primarily as midi controller)
NI Massive 1.1.5
Yamaha HS 80 monitors
NI Maschine

Um... no. Redmatica stuff is awesome, I own and use it all. There are things you can do in seconds it would takes weeks to do in Logic...

Remember those videos are to teach you the basics - a power user can really do amazing things really quickly....

I would just so hate Apple to kill them...

I agree with you beej on Redmatica being awesome. It's THE way to go if you manage a lot of samples.
But I would really like to have Andrea working with the Logic team. EXS really needs a revamp or preferably a big brother.
Right now there is only one alternative and that is NI's Kontakt. I don't know about you but I think there is a huge opportunity for a powerfull sampler that is more optimized than that.

We'll see.

I'll take your word for it! I've heard really good things about them from people who obviously know their stuff so I'm sure it's a decent product.... Just the example in the video was a funny one to choose i guess because it'd be quicker without it...

EXS really needs a revamp

I agree with you eric - I'd love to see the EXS get a bit of an overhaul or another sampler added to logic...
