With better copy protection these people aren't going to be using logic and eventually they will be sifted from the logic users pool.

If you think it's just amateurs who used cracked software, think again:

I know a guy that has a studio about 15 minutes from where I live, $400 a day, total cracked setup, including DAW. I refuse to have anything to do with the place.

Great articles by the way, unfortunately that accounts for a minuscule amount of pirates but it's good to see that at least something is being done, no matter how small.

Yeah, Waves seem to be very pro-active in stopping piracy.

I can't believe studios would use pirated software, especially ones that could afford to buy the stuff several times over in a week.

I can understand why dumb people with a vague interest in music would download cracked software, I sort of get the "well, I wouldn't have bought the software, but if it's going free I might as well" attitude. Even though that attitude sucks.

But I really don't understand if it's your living and you want to uphold any kind of professional reputation.

Well, I don't understand how people's opinions are clashing here? There's a very simple solution in my opinion. It doesn't need to be strictly amazing and expensive or cheap and imperfect. Logic should introduce an app store-type thing, where, if you want you can get the most basic version at an affordable price, or pay 5 grand to get everything they can possibly let you have, and anything between. Even people can come up with different 'Packages' for different styles and uses. Why does a Metal band need to pay for a lot of classical instruments? Why should a drum recorder have to pay for Vocal and Guitar effects? etc. etc. etc.

Either way, this topic proves that people do an arsenal of things with Logic and expect a whole plethora of things coming. So Logic should also, in return, make it possible to make most of us happy.

Kind of like how Logic used to work?

The thing is, and I think I've said it in this thread, making Logic more expensive won't make it better, even if it's chopped-up into lots of little pieces.

Apple undercharge for software to sell hardware.

I'm very happy with having a cheap Logic, with everything included.
