Yup, I was able to reproduce in 9.1.4 and 9.1.7 in Lion and not in 9.0.2 Leopard without changing the key limit from its default settings in either case - which points to the Logic version, OS X version or a combination of both as the most probable cause.

Understood. But you're on Logic 8, no? Hence my note on submitting a bug report.
