Great, now we only need them to fix the memory problems, the "can't save" problems, the EuconDLL crash bugs, the "som AU instruments don't play back right for the first bar or so", and loads of other withstanding issues. But at least it's good to see they have been doing two quick maintenance updates. Can't say I expect these to continue at the same rate but you can always hope, right? 8)

First problem I'm finding with 9.0.2 is that I can only record volume and pan automation in realtime. I've tried with the channel EQ, Oxford EQ, EFM1, Stylus RMX 1.9, and Omnisphere 1.0.4g, and Kontakt 3.5.

I am able to draw in automation, but am unable to record host automation in realtime. MIDI learning seems to work on everything, but host automation appears to be broken here.

Can anyone else confirm? I haven't tried trashing prefs yet, I want to see if anyone else can confirm this before I start trashing things.

Bounce in place still doesn't work in realtime, as it's supposed to do, whit a hardware insert. This is really sad...

Update

Postby mcladam » Tue Oct 13, 2009 6:20 am

I check again which version I have and yes, it's 9.0.0
What's the story with this?!

I had this problem - I renamed "Logic Pro" as "Logic Pro 9" to differentiate it clearly from Logic 8 (which I still have installed). It would not accept the update. I changed the name back to just "Logic Pro" in the application folder and the update worked immediately.

Thanks for checking Eric and CCT.

I actually tried latch, touch and even write, but nothing would record except volume and pan. Just tried it on another computer and everything is working fine there, so I'll try trashing prefs and go from there.

Well, I noticed one little thing that seems to be improved in 9.0.2.

I was tweaking a template (in 9.0.1) this morning, saving as I made changes. Each time I made a few improvements and opted to "Save as Template", the default Save As name was "untitled", which I would have to change to my preferred name, click Save, get the "do you want to replace" prompt, etc, etc.

I just installed 9.0.2 and resumed tweaking my template. The next time I go to save a tweak ---and every time thereafter--- the Save As name is NOT "untitled" anymore but, rather, the name of the template I was working on.

I like that… 8)

9.0.1 looks identical to 9.0.2

Postby Thorste » Tue Oct 13, 2009 7:25 am

I just opened the latest update package in Pacifist and compared it to 9.0.1
There is a .1 MB difference in size and the package items are virtually the same.

Not too surprising for bug fixes.

It was for this reason that I renamed my Logic 8 app and left Logic 9 alone. I figure that I won't be updating 8 any more.

EuconDLL??? there are no DLLs on mac. Euphonix is workin on a new release currently though, I believe that's where the problem is with Eucon crashing.

The sheer fact of Logic development in progress excites me!

Surely those flaws will be ironed out with these intervals of updates coming at up :)

Cheers Apple!

Yes ! By the time they reach 9.0.99, they will have certainly sorted out the most aggravating things.

Let’s not forget that Logic 8 started off in just this way, 2 updates in reasonably quick succession then nothing for the longest time until Logic 9. I know that history doesn’t always repeat itself but it sure does rhyme a lot. I’m sure that most of us would rather see a number of small, incremental updates at regular intervals, punctuated by the occasional (paid) upgrade, than to have a long dry spell with a major overhaul at the end.

Oh yes, it is a DLL - although it lsn't a .DLL file as such, but the thread crashing is called EuconDLL-something. And it is a problem with the Eucon protocol itself since this crashing occurs during work completely without using a Eucon device. It can happen when the Euphonix devices are switched off and even when Eucontrol is not running if I recall.

Actually Logic 8 started off quite differently: first upgrade was more than 3 months after release, second one was 9 months after release, then nothing. This time we've already had 2 updates in less than 3 months.
