Logic 9 & Click Tracks/Metronome

Hi there,

 

On one of my logic projects, I have somehow managed to show the metronome as a track within my arrange window. I believe this is instrument 256.

 

Unfortunately, I can not remember how to make the metronome appear as a track anymore. Does anybody know how?

Open the Mixer, click the "All" button in the Mixer's title bar, Control-click Inst 256 and choose "Create/Select Arrange Track".

Unfortunately, when viewing all, I can't see instrument 256. Any ideas?

Well can you see your Klopfgeist (Metronome) channel strip? If you can't, can you hear the click when you turn it on the Transport bar?

Apologies for not updating my signature. Consider it done...

 

I can not see my Klopfgeist channel strip. I can hear and turn the metronome on and off from the transport bar.

With "All" selected in the Mixer, and the metronome on, can you determine which channel strip it comes from? Or are you using the external MIDI metronome to trigger an external sound?

I have 'All' selected in the Mixer and the metronome on. The only channel strip I can see where the metronome appears is the 'Output' channel strip. I'm not using any external MIDI metronome.

 

Would you like me to produce a screen shot?

Better yet, attach your project file (the .logic file) to this thread without any of the audio files or anything, just the .logic file - you can zip it first to make it smaller.

No problem - here, I fixed it for you.

 

What I did was:

 

- Create a new software instrument channel strip

- In the Environment, select that channel strip and in the parameters, set "Channel" to "Inst 256"

- Reassign that track to the only audio track you had in the Mixer

- Delete the now duplicate audio track so you only have one in the Arrange area

In the Arrange track list, control-click the track, and choose "Reassign Track...".

I was able to find the click using the instructions you gave, but I don't hear any audio on that track/channel. Do I need to enable something to hear it?

I made a whole project no problems, then I needed to mix it with click panned left and everything else right - problem is there's no click track under 'all' in the mixer, so I followed above instructions, but in the environment there's no option to see my new software instruments - also when I play the track with the click on everything's suddenly a beat out of time...

An easy workaround: create an EXS24 track, load your favorite click sound and pan it wherever you want.

I tried that - in this project panning doesn't seem to work - everything's still all in the middle! I keep having this issue where suddenly a project goes wrong like this... I don't change anything, but when I open it all the usual functions no longer work properly. Another issue with this particular project is that now all the parts are playing almost a beat behind the click, and it's all quantized and looks perfect in the matrix edit view, have tried changing to other sounds etc but still all wrong.
