How to export a video from Soundtrack Pro?

Postby HMayoral » Sun Oct 17, 2010 11:35 am

Yes, go ahead, laugh! I'd laugh too XD. I'm bran spankin' new to Soundtrack and I want to export a video along with the soundtrack I created for it. How can I do this?

I don't believe you can. STP only exports audio. You could put the exported audio files into a QT movie using QuickTime or Logic.

Mkay... I'm a little confused about this. I think it's kind of a big miss that you can't export video from Soundtrack. So I make the mix in soundtrack, yet I have to use a different program to export the audio in the same file as the video, there's like something lacking there, but any who, would it be to much to ask how I can export this video with the audio mix in Logic? Btw then... Doesn't that mean that Logic pretty much renders Soundtrack Pro kind of useless since I can just sync music to video in Logic?

Thanks a bunch matey!

STP was designed with video editors in mind. They'd do their video edits in Final Cut Pro, but had no real resources for working post with audio. Soundtrack introduced loops and FX. So, take your edited movie, put it in to STP and do post production audio on it. Return the audio to FCP and you are done.

Logic and STP have many redundant functions. However, with the QT export feature in Logic, it may be a better choice for you to work with.

In Logic, you need to bring in the movie and tweak audio as desired. Then select export audio to movie (under file). You will have some choices to make, don't forget to DESELECT the original soundtrack in the last box you get to, assuming you want to replace it.

I´m a little lost here. I could have swore that I had seen it under file... But it´s not there anymore. Did the new update move it or something (or maybe I didn´t really see it at all.) I´m not exactly sure how to do seeing as I can´t find the ¨export audio to movie option¨

Still there on 9.1.2.

You mentioned
Did the new update move it or something

Are you still on 9.1.0?
And 10.5...is that it...no 10.5.7 or 10.5.8?
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Update everything in your signature that's not correct.
Hint: OS 10.5.something or OS 10.6.something.
