Well, here it is.....enough is enough.

I have not done too much in the way of effects and processing. I guess the electronic "instruments" used in the track are designed so as not to require it?

So basically i have just got my levels and panning as good as i can to get the tracks sitting nicely together, i think i have achieved that on the whole. I have EQ'd the bass end out of everything bar the 2 bass tracks and the kick.

Other than that i have added some echo and automated panning to the Plucked Synth, automated Lowpass filter to the Bridge Synth and the same to the Drum Fill.

A wee bit of compression, echo and verb to the vocals and Bob is your Mum's brother.

My mix may be somewhat understated but it sounds nice and clean, works ok through my phone speaker, crappy car speakers, cheap stereo and at high volume through my Missions so i'm happy enough.

The track is not my normal thing ( www.soundcloud.com/tim-jones-1 ) but i have thoroughly enjoyed the experience, learned loads from the other participants and look forward to the next one!!

Well, as you say, it is quite simple and understated.

I think it works fairly well, though the vocals could stand out more for me.

Also, from your mixer, I'm just wondering if you realise that on stereo tracks, the pan knob affects balance, not stereo positioning, the DirMixer is what you want for that job. Or maybe it was balance, and not stereo positioning, that you wanted to affect, I did that on a couple of tracks in this song.

Excuse my ignorance,I thought balance (like in a car radio?) would be the same than stereo positioning...what is the difference here and what are the options with logic's pan and stereo mono button?
Is it just left and right compared to up,down,left,right?


I agree with the tracks not needing much they already sound very good.

I actually commented on your draft mix before I saw you had a final up. I think you did make an improved mix, but I'll still reiterate my original thoughts. Check out my post on your draft submission. Cheers!

A much improved mix! The snare is now big in the mix, where it should be. Choruses are full and punchy sounding. Overall sonics are pretty good.

The main issues that I hear in this mix are ones of ballance - I still hear some things sticking out too much as they did on your first mix; some synths are stealing focus from the voice here and there, particularly in the intro and verse 2.

One thing I miss in this mix the big warm pad in the intro. I think you could have more of that because it provides a much needed contrast to the chillier synth blips and would also help to fill things out more.

Choruses sound full except for the pre-chorus in the first chorus which sounds a bit empty to me. It does make for a dramatic entry into the second half of that chorus but here the voice is so loud compared to the surrounding synths that it makes for a strange contrast to the other sections where that ratio is reversed. (Loud synths, quieter voice.) I think the pre-chorus could be more full sounding and still be contrasting with the rest of the chorus.
