Comfortably Numb cover produced in Logic (HD Video)

Postby bchamorro » Wed Apr 11, 2012 11:00 pm

What's up guys? I just finished working on this cover of Pink Floyd's Comfortably Numb.
I went for a more acoustic style version, and I didn't want to really over do it on the instrumentation.
Let me know what you think, I hope you enjoy it as much as I did making it.

I did everything in Logic, but I did use some third party plugins (Waves CLA-76, EchoBoy, Breverb, Guitar Rig 5...)

I tracked the drums with a Motu 8 Pre and the rest of the instruments with an Apogee Duet 2. Vox mic is a Miktek C7.
This was a one man project. I played all the instruments, recorded, mixed, filmed, edited.

Let me know if you have any questions about the recording process.

12 string acoustic
6 string acoustic
6 string electric
Bass
Synth pad
Cello (sample instrument)
Vox
Drums

+1!

I would have paid more attention to drums space. It seems like they are being set at separate room because reverberation of other instruments does not match reverbration and ambience of the drumset.

Wow! I enjoyed this very much. Even the vocals, though I must confess that for the first few phrases I thought you where not that confident on intonation. The drums are the only thing I would dare to critisize, they do sound not so well integrated in the overall mix.
But hey, respect to your effort!

I agree with everyone - this is really well done!

sVendetta's comment is interesting to me, i thought similarly, but then realized the verse is a roger waters vocal which is kind of unique and off handed in its delivery. When the dave gilmour part comes in you freaking nailed it though!!! Uncanny resemblence! Not saying the verses are bad mind you, but you are in your comfort zone (no pun) with Gilmour.

Really well done dude! :D
