The numbers are totally irrelevant because they can be made to display in many different ways that still remain irrelevant to panning.
You have dead center, hard left/right, and then somewhere in between. The only useful purpose an assigned number would be good for is to reference a setting for comparison or for later use such as a recall.
Having the Logic developers change the numbers will have absolutely no affect on how the 'balance' knob functions. So slamming/cranking
the pan knob hard left will still be hard left whether the number was 1000, 100, 0, or -64.
