:D Thanks Dani !

I didn't understand that I had to move a controller to change the midi channel.
I thought the midi channel changed automatically according to the data sent by the keyboard.

So, it works perfectly now !
Thanks again to all.

Hi ! 8)

I'd like to go a bit further with this template and make an automation track that changes automatically the midi channels during the playback of the song ... do you think it's possible ???

Audio instrument of channel 1 (Rhodes) from 1st bar to 16th bar,
Audio instrument of channel 2 (Piano) from 17th bar to 32th bar ...

I've already created a midi track with meta events that send program changes to my midi footcontroller for switching between my guitar sounds during the song ... (preset 1 : distorsion on bar 1, preset 2 : delay + chorus on bar 12 etc ...)

Do you think I can add other meta events on the same automation track to switch between audio instruments ? How can I do that ?

Or maybe there are other solutions adding something in David's template ???

Thanks for your answers ! :D
And thanks again for this topic that really helped me !

David, I just hooked up the template and I have to say that is a very handy setup! thanks... I need to learn how to use the transformers (in general I mean). So, in a nutshell, how do you have the transformers setup? signal flow wise

So, I have it setup so I can switch between 16 different intruments from 16 of the buttons on my Keystation... This of course allows me to play the selected instrument from the keyboard on the keystation. I also have it setup so, with the knobs on the keystation, I can control various paramaters on the selected instrument (selected here means from the midi channel switcher in Davids template, and NOT selected in the arrange page)... I seem to be on the right track, BUT... how do I record my performances this way?

working with the template and I can see how to switch between instruments using a knob...however I just got a microkontrol and one of the things I want to be able to do is access different instruments one for the keyboard and one for the pads. So I can trigger samples from the pads and then play the synth line on the keyboard. I can't seem to figure it all out yet. Any advice?

Little post off topic to thank David for the link he gave me some posts ago ...

I didn't have the time to test your switching template since today !
Now it's done : thanks a lot, it's more simple than the one of this topic and it's more adapted to my needs ... it works wonderfully !!!!! :D

... just a little thing : I think I'll have to combine your "instswitch" template with this one ("liveinstrumentswitch") in order to have sound on my keyboard even if the track "keyboard" is not selected !

I'm gonna try to make something combining both templates ...

Okay !!! :D

In fact, no need to combine both template ... I've used David's "Liveinstrumentsswitch" template, I've just added a text cursor in front of the "midi channel" device.

I've created a midi track (new>instrument) which is linked to this cursor.

In the arrangement, I've created a midi region for the new instrument track, and in the list editor of this region, I've created CC messages that change the midi channel when I need it ... :)

It may seem so simple and easy for most of you, but, as a newbie in playing with transformers, knobs and templates, I'm very proud of it ! 8)

Thanks again David and all posters in this topic !
