And on a more serious note, if 9.1.7 make hulk angry, hulk can trash 9.1.7 and install previous version upgrade that better.

Do you have an older version of Logic on your machine still? If so, just trash the latest version (9.1.7) and do a normal update. Should work fine.

If you trashed your earlier versions of Logic as you updated then reinstall from your original install disc and then update from the download.

So you're saying that you do not have an earlier version of Logic on your machine? Check your Applications folder, if you have more than one Logic icon you have an earlier version on your drive. In which case you can just drag the later version(s) into the trash. Then rename the earlier version simply "Logic Pro".

Also, do not be afraid hulk, if you back up all of your system including all files before you attempt this downgrade you will not lose anything.

Let me say that again a little louder... BACK UP!

Lose project files? Changing the application version will not delete your project files.

Lose custom patches, etc.? Not sure. I haven't personally experienced your situation so I can't comment on that.

Then what I would do is install Logic Pro from the original install discs. You can select just the Application during the installation process. Then do the update to your preferred version.

Note: Before doing the install you need to change the name of the current version of Logic from 'Logic Pro' to 'Logic Pro 9.1.7'.

curious, would upgrading from 8gb to 16gb of RAM stop the freezing issues that 9.1.7 has been experiencing?

More ram only makes sense if you're running Logic in 64 bit.
Besides that, there are many other reasons Logic might freeze, most likely 3rd party plugins.
Logic Pro 9 Master Pro
2x2.26 Intel Quad-Core 6GB RAM, Logic 9.1.6, 10.6.8, Motu Ultralite
