My first one

Postby iMacCartney » Mon May 28, 2012 2:19 am

Hi.

This is my first song/project with Logic 9 after buying it some time ago. All tracks played with Korg MicroKey (3 oct) mini keyboard using Logic software plug-ins. I did some songs / home recordings in the late 90's/early 00's with Logic 3/4 and PC but after those years I haven't even touched any DAW's or instruments

So….I would appreciate any kind of feedback, thanks.

I'm just on my laptop at the moment (internal speakers) but it sounds great on here. I like the song too; the only thing I would have rather had as a first-time listener would be to shorten the intro by about half. Otherwise I'm enjoying the mix, dynamics, form, texture, etc. of the song.

Sorry I can't be more constructive or specific at the moment!

Very good. Some of the songwriting and production reminds me of 80s tracks by Toto and Yes. This is my childhood all coming back up! :D

Nicely written and arranged. The production is really good overall, I listened on headphones and found the shaker on the right way too loud, also the vocals were a bit lost in the mix, I'd like them a bit louder.

And for what it's worth, I disagree with Matt about the intro length, it's the right length for me.

Love the synth solos too :D

Thank you for your feedback, I really appreciate it.

David, for some reason you are not the first one who mention Toto after listening this song. Well - always been a big fan of Toto, especially their 80's/early 90's production. :D

Rev, JS, Yep, I know that the shaker on right hand side is a way too lound. It's just one of those things that changed after ""mastering"" the final mix. Didn't have time to go back to mix to make adjustments.  ok, would have time but I was just lazy

That's a pretty impressive first project, imagine what number 50 will sound like.

Great production. I get the Toto thing too :)

Sounds great, very 80's sound. I found the vocal got lost in the chorus but overall great stuff. i don't remember my first project being that good....or my last!

Remember guys, iMacCartney said it was his first production with Logic 9, it's obviously not his first production! It's too good for that.

Thank you guys. Yes, just like Mr Sleaze said, this was my first production with L9 but I have done some productions (10+) with Logic 3 /4 appr. 10-12 years ago.

Really? And you've not produced in any other media?

If you're only into double digits with production, then I'd say you have a bright future ahead of you! :D
