it's like a macbook pro and an iPad mated...
would be interesting to run logic on something where you can access everything directly....

An iPad that runs OS X would certainly get my attention (I don't have an iPad - yet).

yup, an ipad running osx would be great, and for a minute this was also great. like apple, however, they seem to have gone down a style-over-function design, eschewing programmable buttons like on many wacom tablets...as such, this seems more geared towards graphic/freehand artists than us lot because there are no modifier keys

this is no issue if, in fact, i have misunderstood and it's also a touchscreen a la ipad

they actually mention logic pro on the site...anyway, will be interesting to see it in action (and, again, find out the cost...).
meanwhile, back to the trackpad...

Doesn't Apple hate anyone besides them selling a device that runs their software? I'm surprised that this is a thing.

Especially when it's illegal - isn't there a clause that OS X is only to be installed on Apple products in the OS X license agreement? I'm fairly sure there's one.

they must have something...the earlier version supposedly had a license (this goes back a few years). guess we'll know more about it soon enough.

i doubt there's applecare; hopefully there will be a warranty, and support...and a company around long enough to provide that.

Perhaps they'll require the end user to manually install the OS? I haven't browsed the website enough to see if it's true.

isn't this the company where you have to send them a macbook and they do the mod? I don't think that is illegal. I think you just use the os that you have on there already.

Well then that would be illegal for the end user, as OS X's eula specify you can only install it on an "Apple branded product". Not sure how they're going around that. Or maybe they aren't?

That's what I'm thinking- they can legally sell the product so long as the end user agrees to never actually use it to run Mac OS X.

Then of course the end user will run Mac OS X.

Sounds to me like another Napster: a legal product which is targeted to users who are going to use it illegally.

Well I guess this answers it - the Modbook Pro is NOT A COMPUTER!!! :D

The Modbook Pro is an enclosure conversion kit designed to exclusively contain an original MacBook Pro base system manufactured by Apple Inc. Apple Inc.’s one-year limited warranty on the base system is voided by the conversion and replaced with Modbook Inc.’s warranty.

Yo, homiez, check this out.
What do you guys think? It sounds almost too good to be true, if it's as thin as I imagine.
