Hello and welcome to Logic Pro Help, MBProductions.

Click this link to your signature and add your system information:

• Logic version and sub-version (e.g. Logic 10.0.7)

• OS X version and sub-version (e.g. OS 10.9.3)

• Computer (e.g. MacBook, Mac Pro, iMac)

• Processor (e.g. 2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo)

• Memory (e.g. 2GB)

• Audio interface manufacturer and model (e.g. Presonus AudioBox USB)

• MIDI Controller manufacturer and model (e.g. M-Audio Axiom Pro 49)

(most of that information can be found by choosing Logic Pro X > About Logic Pro X, and  > About This Mac)

Logic Pro X creates two new aux tracks every time I create a new audio track. One called "Ambience/0.2s Long Ambience" and one called "Small Hall/1.6s Short Vocal Hall".

That would happen when choosing patches in the Library, not when creating audio tracks.

To prevent this from happening, disable the "Sends" button by going into the Enable Patch Merging option in the Library (bottom left corner, gear icon). This way when trying patches from the Library, they won't be loaded with any sends and their associated aux channels with effects.

If "Open Library" is selected in the New Tracks dialog then creating a new audio track also chooses a patch for that track in the Library, which means new Aux tracks are created in the Mixer if they're not already present.

To avoid that behavior, choose Track > New Track..., choose "Audio" and deselect "Open Library".

I get that behavior when choosing "Guitar or Bass" in the New Tracks dialog, not with the "Audio" (track) one.

1) Create new empty project. In the new track dialog, choose audio and deselect Open Library:

-> An audio track is created.

2) Open the Mixer.

3) Create a new audio track, selecting Open Library:

-> A new audio track is created along with two new Aux channel strips in the Mixer.

Nope, not here. I must have hacked something and can't remember.

But anyway, I'm sure that must be it (the OP's problem) because that's what also happens when leaving Open Library checked when creating software instrument tracks.

That must be it. :D

Look inside your user Patches, do you have an empty audio track patch there?

Thanks Eric, but it was a bit more involved than that. Turns out I modified the Audio Track patch that's inside the Logic app itself:

Logic Pro X/Contents/Resources/Default Patches/

Completely forgot about that one!
