Postby seattlecal » Tue Jan 12, 2010 4:14 pm

Alright you Logic pro help runners. You can take this down if you want but I can't believe no one knows about the studiologic VMK 188 Plus. I'm just looking for some help as I believe I will buy it but just looking for some support whether it be buy it or not.

It's a great keybed. Most of the best master controllers use this same Fatar keybed, Kurzweil, Doepfer, etc. As for the operating system features and quality of the USB drivers I can't say. I have the older Fatar Studio 2001 but a lot has changed since then. Not the keybed though. That's the same pretty much. If I were you I'd go through its manual and see if it has the features you want.

You know I really have no idea what I'm looking for as far as features. I love that everyone says the keys are incredible. Can you find the manual online? I really appreciate your help fader8

I have one! I loaded drivers, plugged it in and it works. No problem.
You do have to set up all the CC knobs manually, including the sustain pedal.
I am not much of a piano player, but the player on the album I am working on is. He loves it.

No usb output?

Postby seattlecal » Wed Jan 13, 2010 5:05 am

I've got the new I Mac and it does not have a midi input/ouput. It uses USB. How do you get around this? I did not see a USB on the VMK 188 plus

One more question.

Postby seattlecal » Wed Jan 13, 2010 7:32 am

Would you guys who have been helping me on the thread look into purchasing a studiologic VMK 188 Plus if you were looking for a new keyboard around $800? Thanks for any reply

That would depend on what purpose I needed the keyboard for.

Purpose

Postby seattlecal » Wed Jan 13, 2010 7:51 am

I'm going to be using it for the purpose of music on Logic Studio. No live gigs or anything just basically making all the music of a song on it.

Postby seattlecal » Mon Jan 18, 2010 2:03 pm

you just bumped it.

Bumping is replying to your own post for the purpose of keeping it on the first page of a forum - that way it gets more visibility.

Most people just reply to their own post with the text: "*BUMP*"

Postby seattlecal » Mon Jan 18, 2010 2:11 pm

So should I write something about the question to bump it rather than having wrote to you. Thanks for your help

Not to beat a dead horse here. I own a VMK-188plus and I love it. It works great. Not only do I love it (I am a bass player for goodness sake!) but the artist I am currently working with is a PIANO player.Think Grand piano. Rick Wakeman, Billy Joel, Elton John. Piano player. Very picky guy. I use it with Truepianos modelling software and Logic. He is very pleased as well.

I have had it for about three months. Used 3 to 4 evenings a week. Not a single problem.
