chimp
What exactly is an Alias Assigner? Could somebody give me a good example of how I could use this? Thanks! Edited March 16, 2009 by chimp
ski
Chimp, Your two questions are unrelated, so per our illustrious forum's guidelines, please, one question per post. I'll answer your alias assigner question here, but please start a new post regarding your chord track question. Oh, and if that's not enough of a slap on the wrist with a wet noodle by the moderator, please title your posts with something descriptive too. An alias assigner is the environment object most difficult to explain, but here goes by way of example... Let's say you've created a fader in the environment to control cutoff of an ES1 synth. Then you get the idea that, by hitting a button, that same fader can be used for ES2. When controlling the ES2, you want the fader to have a different look so that it's easy to tell at-a-glance which synth you're using the fader for. In this case you'd use an alias assigner to give you the different looks. The assigner would be connected to three objects: an alias of the actual fader you initially created, another fader that has the look you want for ES1 programming, and another fader that has the look for ES2 programming. Then, when you hit the ES1/ES2 button, the look of the fader will change.
chimp
Lol, thanks for the bitch slap man! I just thought asking this way will save valuable space on the forum. But ur the boss..I'll make a new thread
David Nahmani
And please re-title this one. It is more valuable to members to be able to scan the list of topic titles and quickly identify which ones peak their interests rather than have to click the titles and read the entire post to know what they're talking about. You can click the "Edit" button at the top right of your post to edit its title. Thanks chimp!

ski
Here's an example of an alias assigner at work (file attached). It's a visual metronome where you can change the color of the visual display based on the notes you choose in the track. And if you open a second Environment window you can see the assigner in action (you may have to toggle the "protect positions and hide cables" function to see the cable display in that second window).
