erikromero10
Well David imported an accapella then used the sequencer in Ultrabeat to trigger it.... he could run the whole accapella if he highlighted all the parts in the sequencer OR he could chop it up depending on where he triggered it. David Nahmani
Hi Erik, what I was doing is: 1) Have the vocal on an Audio track and mute that track. 2) Insert Ultrabeat on a software instrument channel strip and set its sidechain to the Audio track (where the vocal is). 3) Set Osc 1 (at the top) to Side Chain, turn on the step sequencer and use it to "play" your vocals. dryfish
3) Set Osc 1 (at the top) to Side Chain, turn on the step sequencer and use it to "play" your vocals. Huh? Sidechain on osc 1!!?? I don't see this on my Ultrabeat! (I'm running pro 7).
David Nahmani
Huh? Sidechain on osc 1!!?? I don't see this on my Ultrabeat! (I'm running pro 7). It's a new feature in Logic 8.
erikromero10
Ya, that was it.... does the acapella need ti be synced up to the BPM of the track before I put it in Ultrabeat? Im assuming so hey?
erikromero10
Ya, you should have been at the Remix Hotel in Miami... he had some good stuff! Next year Ill definitely work my schedule around his classes... If he has them still!
David Nahmani
I hope to be there next year again! Better to have your vocals sync'ed with your project if you want rhythmic stuttering.
dryfish
It's a new feature in Logic 8. That's just plain unfair
jonkuzma
Hi..You can watch this to get an idea of the concept.. http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=SFLogicNinja ...Although it uses a soft synth as the input you can use an audio track as well... MetalMasterUK
I tried this and at first the sequencer was playing back the samples from the left hand side of the ultrabeat window. Then when when i flicked the botton left hand switch from "voice" to ""sequencer" it would play back a few seconds of audio, but my speakers were popping and clicking then all playback went silent. I don't know if this is a bug or if i'm doing something wrong? I am just trying to create a vocal stutter. Is there an easier way as an alternative? Primm
I would say copy/cut/paste chunks of the original vocal, is this what you mean? You could also set the tremolo plugin to act as a gate, and automate it.
MetalMasterUK
Copy them into the sequencer in ultrabeat? How? Surely if you are using the sidechain input as the audio you want to gate / sequence then you don't need to cut this into the sequencer on UB?
